Mark Summers QC for the defence now rises to make a motion on extradition law.

2. The allegation of "theft," against him
3. The allegation he put people at risk.

All "Utter rubbish," he adds

Notes Manning had lawful access to various secure databases, asks court to look at the "Iceland Cable."

Summers says Wikileaks is a collaborative project like Wikipedia, "anyone can edit it, anyone can be an author."

Summers says Wikileaks did have a "most wanted" list of information it asked people to submit.
Notes there is no mention of US diplomatic cables anywhere on it.

The QC says the idea Chelsea Manning uploaded the cables after seeing a reuqest on the "most wanted list," is "absolute fantasy."

Summers moves on to the prosecution charge that Assange "knowingly put lives at risk."

Summers continues, notes that at her court martial Chelsea Manning testified these were non sensitive cables as they were available to thousands of people and not marked as classified.

Notes that #Assange partnered with 5 mainstream media organisations to read and, if necessary, redact the cables before release.
Says the US government, via the State Departments was "feeding suggested redactions," to Wikileaks' media partners.

A witness from Der Speigel will say they held a conference call with the State Department to discuss redactions,

Summers, "Wikileaks had a process to identify and redact the names of anyone ar risk. A very different situation from what you heard [from the prosecution] yesterday.

Summers says this continued for 9 months, until the unredacted release.
Says that one of the media partners published a book that gave away the password to the archive, which led to other sites publishing the unredacted cables.
