I want you to close your eyes for a moment & imagine a bunch of 20 animals who pass for humans entering your home, destroying it,ransacking it,including stuff that is sacred & personal to you.Just imagine your sheer helplessness and anger.

We need to understand what trauma is.
And mind you, no one harmed anyone, not a finger was layed on anyone, no one burnt the place down - just that vandalism that i mentioned in last tweet, will traumatize you for months. Just that. You will feel torn inside, watching personal/sacred space being violated.
Even this low grade violation [relatively] that involved no physical violence or violation, will haunt you for months. It will mess your mind, your emotions, your very soul. And the healing will take a long time.

Now imagine the plight of those who suffer worse in reality.
I was going through a research report on Mental Health disorders in the Valley. And it made me sit up - i mean i know all this, but yet, seeing the %ages was revealing.

We don't realize violence to the mind and soul is as bad as violence to the physical body.
The point of this small thread was, while we all instinctively empathise with what it does to those [ family etc] who die and/or suffer physical violence,10 dead here, 20 there....we fail to account for the 1000s who suffer violence to their mind and soul. It can be living hell.
What happened in Delhi is NOT JUST ABOUT 20-25 citizens being killed by mobs - 1000s more hv been scarred badly in mind &soul. As a society,we need to understand the full scale of Delhi-like incidents - it is much larger, than just body count or X Cr of property destruction.
