Viruses are ancient parasites that have been around as long as life has. They infect living cells and hijack them to reproduce themselves. They're the most numerous type of biological entity on Earth. They are also not considered to be alive.
Now there's no universal definition of life: even Erwin Schrödinger was uncertain what it was. But an ability to resist entropy, to reproduce, to mutate, to have a metabolism and to self-organise feature in most definitions. Thanks so much better already

Time for a pulp countdown now, so here's my top 10 future inventions we were promised by Popular Mechanics magazine that we're still waiting for!
At #10: motorised unicycle! This was a very popular Edwardian idea, inspired by the penny farthing bicycle. Although a few prototypes were made we never really fell in love with driving one big wheel.
At #9: personal radar. Now this is actually a pretty neat idea and a number of cars now use radar or lidar as an anti- aid. We're still waiting for it to be built into a hat however.

i don't know what i believe in anymore, but i do believe that if Christians were out there showing people Christ and the revolution of utter love he proposed instead of worshipping Trump, guns, and the United States Marines, it'd be a massive force for good.
i think about this a lot, about the vision of what I thought Christianity was vs the reality of what it actually is, which took me a long time to accept. Because the Gospel is a *staggering* repudiation of basically everything shitty about the world.

- Started off 2019 exactly the way I wanted to: doing a whole lot of not much
- Took care of myself, ate well, did some laundry
- Talked with a friend about finding inspiration in the everyday
- Saw my Mommy ❤️
- Off to bed with a good book #LethalWhite (still)
Jan 2nd:

- Had a terrible night of sleep thanks to melatonin dreams, which jump started an entire day of head and tummy aches 😣
- Cooked two delicious meals at home and indulged in some dessert
- Continued CBT with new therapist
- Bed by 10:30! 🙌🏻

I want to do a thread about life and living in Canada with the challenges immigrants face when they finally land in Canada. I would be speaking specifically to my 9ja pipu as it concerns us.
Your permanent residency visa has been approved. Congratulations, now your work begins. Canada is like a mine field, you need support system to navigate this water cos one simple mistake could take you years to fix and then frustration sets in.
You probably know little or nobody in Canada but in a couple of months you would be leaving your familiar environment for the unknown. It can be daunting to say the least. It’s a different ball game when you come on vacation compared to when your move finally.
