Danish Mahal, Amir ud Daula Park, Aminabad, Lucknow. (Thread)
It literally means 'Palace of Wisdom'. Founded in 1939, the most wonderful Urdu bookstore of the city. Initially it was a franchise of Maktaba, a leading chain of agency of Urdu books.
Maulvi Abdul Haq, AKA Baba e Urdu, inspired Naseem Ahmad to convert it into a bookshop. It has one of the rarest collection of Urdu books. Everyday there are literary meeting happened in which poets, scholars, researchers, critics discuss about Urdu poetry, literature, culture.
Walls of Danish Mahal has the rarest portraits of Urdu poets like Ghalib,Iqbal,Ameer Minai, Mushafi,Premchand.
Mr. Naeem Ahmad has been managing this shop since 2005. His father Naseem Ahmad died in 2012.
