Dear diary,

It has been exactly 28 days since I returned from the abroad.

Walahi I am going mad.

What is all this? Take me to London, Abba said no, there is firus. Toh, let me go and greet my good friend Donald, he said there is virus there too.

So what do they want me to do?
The other day they carried me to Ondo to commission road Gov. Amosun has built. Today they said I should go to Argungu to look at fish.

Fish!

I was even happy. I thought it was in Chad. I even told Aisha to dust my passport. Till we now landed in Kebbi. What rubbish!
The only good thing about this whole mess is that it seems Aisha is coming to her senses.

She has been fighting for me to travel. She knows how much I love aeroplane food and she has been harassing my CoS that even if I cannot go to London I should go to Italy.

I appreciate her
Anyway I have said my own. They must drop those nonsense charges against Maurice Iwu so he can concentrate on curing this Chinese virus.

28 days fa!

If not that they are giving us money walahi I would have kicked all these people and their firus out of this country.

Let’s cook conspiracy theories about why @realDonaldTrump might extend his travel ban to Nigeria.

Suspend disbelief:

1. It’s an election year. Voters love war & a crackdown on job-stealing immigration. He’s ‘won’ his showdown with Iran, now it’s time to get tough on immigrants.
2. Security concerns. The White House has said a travel ban helps it prevent terrorists from coming into the US.

Nigeria would need to show compliance with US-standard travel and ID security protocols, against the backdrop of rising security threats here in Nigeria.
3a. Trump simply doesn’t care about Nigeria:

He thinks the country is a shithole; her President @MBuhari is lifeless; and if granted visas Nigerians would never return to their huts in Africa (FYI the country with the highest rate of visa overstays in the US is Nigeria).

Doc, I find this entire conversation troubling, and I’ll try to articulate why as best as I can.

As you know, I’m partisan, but I’ll try to put that aside, for now.
1. Who is this @ChiefOjukwu you are apologizing to? A faceless bot created by this admin? A bot that decided to use the likeness of one of the most revered Igbos?

2. This handle regularly threatens people with arrest or violence using state resources it claims to have access to.
3. It’s thinly veiled goal is to silence dissent, because it claims it has access to information that can be used to blackmail or embarrass noisemakers. In a democracy? This is the slimy thing you apologized to? This Govt apologist? This vessel of puerile propaganda?

Buhari’s 14 day ‘private visit’ to London started 2 days ago.

Predictably, he did not hand over to his VP, who has shown a habit for doing the right things when he assumes the role of Acting President.

But if you’re curious about why he will only be away for 2 weeks, read on.
The Constitution says that if the President is away for 21 days & fails to transmit power to the VP, the National Assembly shall vote to transfer power to the VP.

It was an amendment made to prevent the sort of imbroglio we found ourselves in when Yar’Adua fell ill in 2010.
No details were given as to the nature of Baba’s private visit but it’s safe to speculate that it is health related.

We will see more statements conveying ‘directives’ to give the impression that Baba is still in charge. I wish him good health

I think that this new paper is a great example of the type of meta-scientific work that we need to evaluate the effect of changing research practices. But I worry about the simple conclusion that "the push for better practices makes us use cheaper and easier methods" 1/15
We've done similar coding; haven't published it yet, because each time we get into it, we realize that this type of coding is hard, and we keep wanting to make different decisions. So my conclusions are based on coding that I now think is not ideal, but I'll continue anyway 2/15
First, I think this conclusion is problematic. This is a causal conclusion that the push for bigger Ns has led people to rely on Mturk and other on-line studies. The authors do acknowledge later that there are other possibilities; but this is the headline that will stick 3/15
