/ The water crisis in Harare has reached alarming levels. A cholera or typhoid outbreak is imminent. There seems to be no political will to fix the water crisis in Harare. #FixOurWater #SDG6

"Kunzvi Dam project to begin this year - Zimbabwe Situation" zimbabwesituation.com/news/kunzvi-da…
/ Since 1996, the Kunzvi Dam project has been on the cards until we got into this water crisis because of poor planning, incompetence, corruption and laissez faire approach to critical issues that affect livelihoods. Water is a fundamental human right. #FixOurWater #SDG6
/ @MthuliNcube allocated $259million to the construction of Kunzvi Dam in the 2020 budget. I demand to know if those funds were remitted to the relevant authorities for the work to commence & to know why the project hasn't commenced yet? #Water is life!
#FixOurWater #SDG6
/ This Kunzvi project has had several false starts over the years, bringing me to question the sincerity of government to ensure our right to water as enshrined in Section 77 of the constitution of Zimbabwe. Clean, accessible water for all is an essential part of the world #SDG6
/ The provision of water and sanitation is a matter of concern which must be urgently addressed instead of wasting taxpayers funds on useless workshops in hotels by public officials who have clearly failed their representative mandate to ensure that water for all is accessible.
/ Most Harare residents & other areas in Zimbabwe, people do not have access to fresh water & proper sanitation. Due to poverty, bad economies & poor infrastructure the situation is worsening by the day. This #WaterCrisis is having adverse psychological, physical & emotional...
/...effects on women. Women's health is also being compromised by caring several bucket loads of water to and from the boreholes everyday after going through sexual harassment as well at these boreholes from water barons. We demand sanity to prevail. #FixOurWater #SDG6
/ @cohsunshinecity and Ministry of Local government should stop taking people for granted and violating our right to clean, safe and portable water. The State must take responsible legislative and other measures to ensure that our right to water is protected. #FixOurWater #SDG6
/ In 2016 @zinwawater was quoted in the media saying that the country's 152 catchment areas are depleting & there is need for an urgent action from both government & stakeholders to avert the impending #WaterCrisis. To date it seems its not a priority as there is no urgency...
/...to fix the water crisis in Zimbabwe. From my primary school days I used to read about the Zambezi Water Project in the newspaper but to date, I am now a grandmother that project hadn't been completed to supply water to Bulawayo. What is the point of having elected...
/... officials who do not transform anything & are comfortable in demanding allowance & salary increments yet they dont have anything to write home about their involvement in council & parliament. If elected officials over the years cared about their electorates livelihoods...
/...surely every household in Zimbabwe in both urban and rural areas would have running safe, fresh & clean water coming out their taps. Unfortunately the political leaders we elect are self-serving, promise what they can't deliver & turn a blind eye to the electorate after...
/...winning elections and are only visible after 5 years with the same fake promises, incompetence and sly attitudes. Most urban citizens last had access to clean tap water in 2006. Most borehole and well water we are fetching is not safe & posing serious health threats to...
/...the people of Zimbabwe. The #WaterCrisis is not only affecting households, it is affecting business as well and there is no way Zimbabwe will prosper without water. We are a thirsty nation. We are thirsty for water, thirsty for a government that cares for it's people.
/ Water shortages affect our economy & our priority should be to fix the water, energy & health crisis in Zimbabwe. The most effective solutions to these problems is the modernisation of water infrastructure, the only thing that can reduce waste and improve resource management.
/ The UN calculates that water pipelines lose an average of 25-30% of the water they carry due to poor maintenance. An efficient water management infrastructure, from dams to drinking water treatment plants, from desalination plants to hydro power, will help reduce waste.
/ What needs to be done? Whilst we wait for Kunzvi Dam, government should go public-private partnerships to increase access to water by drilling boreholes which feed into water reservoirs to supply water in all suburbs in Harare and to rehabilitate defunct pipe water schemes.
/ As @LEADZim2023 we call upon government and local authorities to ensure the right to water is protected and upheld. Every citizen must enjoy the right to clean and safe water. Law enforcement agents @PoliceZimbabwe should bring to book those responsible for the extortion...
/...of citizens, particularly exploitation of women and children especially young girls. The peace and security of women and young girls who spend countless hours waiting in long queues to draw water is unfortunately not guaranteed. We demand boreholes to be manned by...
/...police officers in high density areas to protect women and young girls who are now victims of sexual Harassment, indults and emotional abuse. In short the government must make frantic efforts to fix the water crisis in Harare as a matter of urgency. @UN_Water @unwomenzw
