Many years ago, a group of critical care nurses and docs who began working together in the 70s started a spring reunion. It eventually grew to include secretaries, resp.therapists, pharmacists.. and then younger staff we had mentored. A good way to catch up and share memories.
It wasn’t hundreds of people but enough to eat, drink and laugh plenty. Some still work part time and others volunteer. Mercy medical trips, immunization clinics and teaching. We just cancelled for this year. It’s not because we’re all vulnerable and need protection
But because we don’t want to risk taking any healthcare workers out of an already stressed system. We are ready to return when they want us. Staying by our motto of “do no harm”. I will miss seeing my old friends but am proud of this decision.
