When you face problems (and you will, by gosh!) in the coming days, it's almost certainly not going to be the fault of the person in front of you.

No toilet paper on the shelf? It's not the shelf stacker's fault, or the cashier, or the store manager. It's *people* in general.
Can't go to your regular NHS appointment? That's not the fault of your doctor or of the hospital or of anyone anywhere in the healthcare chain - there's a pandemic on!

Staff member stays away? They may have 100 more pressing concerns, including vulnerable people to protect.
The one cautious exception should be the Government.

I say cautious, and I mean cautious.

Nobody anywhere in the world is having an easy time battling the virus.

But there are things our Government has done wrong that are above-and-beyond what is "allowable" from the chaos.
This is only the opening skirmish of a long, long, long war.

They still have the opportunity to pivot (as Boris Johnson did last night) and start getting things "more right".

Never going to be perfect. The situation's too unpredictable. But they can & should keep doing better.
The single biggest low-hanging fruit is Brexit. Brexit disruption is circled on the calendar for 1 January 2021. Even a comprehensive Canada-style deal will demand huge, costly changes of firms.

It can punt that problem 2 years into the future with a transition period extension!
With a 2 year extension, companies can stop having to think about reconfiguring supply lines, learning new customs processes, recertifying products and qualifications... and get back to what should be occupying 100% of their attention: SURVIVAL.
