Two years ago, our hearts broke as 17 lives were senselessly stolen. 17 more were injured and are still learning to live with their wounds. Others have wounds that are invisible but run deep, and in the months to come we lost 2 more lives. We remember them, too.
Our work to prevent gun violence is for them & in their honor. Regardless of your politics or opinion on the work we do, we all can agree that their lives were beautiful, infinitely valued, & were taken from the world far too soon.
The trauma & pain did not end on 2/14/18 – it is felt today by our whole community. It is felt every time a headline of another death pops up on our news feed. Our lives are forever changed. Our heartbreak will never go away. This is a difficult week for MSD Eagles everywhere.

With the number of mass shootings in the United States on track to exceed 400 by the end of the year, a new campaign of theatre activism called #ENOUGH: Plays to End Gun Violence launched yesterday.
Its mission is to spark critical conversations about gun violence across the country by providing middle and high school students with a platform to express themselves through storytelling, foster open dialogue in their communities, and inspire creative action.
Beginning in 2020 as a nationwide call for submissions of short plays written by students about gun violence, #ENOUGH culminates in an evening of simultaneous staged readings across the country of the most impactful plays on December 14, 2020 - the 8th anniversary of Sandy Hook.

it doesn't go very well.
As he exits Apgujeong Rodeo station, Jimin pulls his winter coat tightly around himself. He stares around his surroundings with slightly disdainful eyes.

Jimin isn't exactly the greatest fan of hanging out in Apgujeong. The people who frequent it are too posh, too stuffy.
Still, this is where his blind date, Taehyung suggested they meet, at a Korean-Mexican fusion joint. So Jimin's here, and he's nervous as all hell so he's here twenty minutes too early.

In his defense, the picture Hoseok shared of Taehyung on Kakao was nothing short of stunning.

Almost everyone I know and love is having a hard time right now. Almost everyone I know comes home from a hard day being ground on the wheel of late stage disaster capitalism and tries to wrap their shattered brain around the very real prospect of species collapse. It’s a lot.
If the state of the world is contributing to your anxiety, your depression or your ill health, it’s not your fault. It’s not ‘all in your head.’
Depression is, in part, a physiological reaction to overwhelming circumstances.

Disability justice/studies & black feminist friends: I’m having a really hard time right now being injured away from my partners & having to be vulnerable around newer friends here in Madison, asking for help, being unshowered/without makeup/crying in front of them.

Going from waitressing a year ago to now carries a LOT of life-adjustments.

But 3 paychecks in has shown me how 1 of the greatest scams in US is the idea that financial struggle is due to “poor character.”

It’s a huge myth designed to keep people from empowering themselves. /1
When I was waitressing, I used to jerk awake in the middle of sleep worried that I may have forgotten if a bill cleared, or if I had enough 💰 to pay a Dr in cash.

Was that bc I was “irresponsible?” No. It’s bc I wasn’t being paid a living wage as cost of living skyrocketed. /2
Now I’m going through a huge income transition compared to living off tips (which diff pay every week, very hard).

& I have HEALTH INSURANCE, which now means I have fewer expenses.

According to banks, I’d be more “responsible,” but my character hasn’t changed. Just my math. /3
