Just McNeil and Strang here today.
Strang: 13 new confirmed cases, total of 41.
Strang: new cases are travel-related. Some of the cases are related, family units who had travelled. One is a child under 10.
Strang: no cases of community spread and we are actively looking for cases of community spread. To me, that's an indication of success... "the system is working."
Strang: "what we have in place, if we all do it, will work... it can and it will work." Hand-washing, social distancing.
Strang: for those who come into the province: you must go immediately home, not to the grocery store first. Get someone else to get your groceries.
McNeil: We have tightened our borders. It was slow working at the NB border, but we're figuring out how to speed that up. Truckers and others will have a dedicated lane.
McNeil: "I know this is tough, but we don't have a choice. This is serious business."
Shaina Luck: there's no tracking at the border. McNeil: everyone who comes across the border should self-isolate. (with some exceptions)
Strang: if positives start feeling well after 10 days, there's no longer a need to isolate. THEY HAVE IMMUNITY, he says. That's the first I've heard that definitively.
Strang, again: "it's working. People are self isolating while they're sick at home... we are minimizing the change of spread."
McNeil: if you need to drive to get your exercise, you're going too far. "If you live near a trail, walk the trail."
McNeil: walk in your community. "This is a two-week period."
Strang: within the next day or two, we'll be doing about 400 tests a day.
Strang: "all the evidence shows... that once people are exposed, they do develop long-term immunity."
