My parents’ grocery store opens from 6-7 am for seniors to shop with social distancing in the line up. They are 78 and 73 yrs old.

My 69 y o MIL needs brain surgery right now, thanks to a neuro condition, that is postponed due to Covid.

I am scared for them all the time.
They matter. Their lives matter. They are not nameless faceless elders. They are my parents and my kids’ grandparents and I love them beyond words.

They are not pawns in the game of corporate greed. They are real human beings who have led complex and fascinating lives.
They deserve to live.

Anyone who says otherwise has no heart, no soul, no moral compass, and no understanding of the past, the present or the future.

I don't talk about this very often but I lost someone close to me very unexpectedly when I was 35.

One morning she was there, emailing about her new home and the trees on her street, and the next day she had a brain aneurysm at 37, and was gone.
She was one of those people who altered the life of everyone she came into contact with. Changed people. An alchemical force.

There was no denying her once you knew her.

When she died, I lost my bearings for about a year.
I could not function with or understand how quickly it had happened, nor how to process the loss, the unfairness or it, the intimacy of who she had been to me and what became of me in her absence.

I give up on this platform.

I can read a sign. The blue Xs on chairs at my kids’ pediatrician were to protect parents and kids from sitting in chairs where people with a 100.4 degree plus fever had previously been seated.

It was not for social distancing. And I am not a moron.
Just STOP minimizing the truth of where we are. People are sick and dying. It is airborne. It lives on fabric for up to 72 hours.

Stop pretending it isn’t real. IT IS.
The twists and turns people are willing to go through to deny where we are.

The chairs were FABRIC, not plastic. Tell me how you sanitize that with a spray.

It’s just unbelievable that I am arguing with what I was told, what I read, and what I saw. Unbelievable.

We are fucked.

So, my son just had an outbreak of bumps all over his face & body. When they moved to his mouth, I threw the kids in the car and drove like a bat out of hell to the pediatrician.

Turns out it is hives-- benadryl, and he is fine.

However, inside the doc's office, I saw something
Over a number of the chairs they had put Xs in blue tape.

There were huge signs that said "don't sit in the chairs with blue tape."

And all I can think about is the kids and the parents who sat in those chairs, and who lives and who dies and how arbitrary and awful this all is.
I made it back to the turn of our street before I started crying.

We will not all make it.

Please just know that whomever you are, wherever you are, you are loved and you are worthy and you are seen.

No matter what this government says, you matter.

1) Dear #Parents of kids in elem schools:

I'm not tagging your account or your school's account, but a lot of schools do biased and racist and educationally WRONG activities to "teach" kids about "the First Thanksgiving" and they share photos of the activities on social media.
2) If you signed a waiver that your school could take and use photos of your child, you might find photos of your child in a costume that is meant to be an "Indian" at that "first Thanksgiving." Some parents think it is cute and share photos, too.
3) It isn't cute. One day, your kid might ask you why you let that happen.

Why not just go speak to the Grand Jury? Clearly, it's not about avoiding spending more time talking about the investigation and your experience...
