The worst is beginning to happen in New York City. It will probably get worse over the next couple of weeks. The people who are dying now were infected two to three weeks ago. 1/

New York is the first. These scenes will wash across the United States. Some of it may be mitigated by the lockdowns now occurring. Their full effects will not be felt for two or three weeks. 2/

The President of the United States has a show every day for his underlings to praise him and to tell us what a great job he is doing. And to urge that the shutdown end.

The tv channels are beginning to think that maybe they should not be carrying The Coronavirus Show live.

The Republicans in Congress want to make sure that nobody laid off from a restaurant job gets a thousand dollars they don't "deserve" while authorizing giveaways to giant corporations.

The Democrats aren't saying much.

Other countries are guaranteeing workers a salary. 4/

Meanwhile, our Secretary of State produces disunion in the G7 by insisting on a middle-school taunt to China about the virus, which Republicans echo in place of the internationally accepted name. 5/

Ambassadors to other countries are being asked to get medical equipment from those countries, while Trump refuses to use the Defense Procurement Act to force American companies to make that equipment. 6/

And the crisis will be worse than it might have been because Trump never had the ability or temperament to be a president.

I don't know what we do about this. Call your members of Congress. Many governors are rising to the crisis. And, of course, vote in November.

I'd like to see Trump and the do-nothing Congress removed now. But there seems no way to do that. 8/8
