As more people host their virtual events using Zoom, we wanted to offer up tips to help you safely share your Zoom meeting and keep the party crashers away:
1. Do not share your meeting ID publicly: When you share your meeting ID or meeting link on social media or other public forums, that makes your event…extremely public. Anyone with the link can join your meeting.
2. Try the Waiting Room feature, it allows you (the host) to control when a participant joins the meeting: support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/artic…
3. Manage screen sharing: To prevent participants from screen sharing before a call, you can select “Host Only” under “Who Can Share” in your web settings. During a call, using the host controls at the bottom, click the arrow next to Share Screen and then Advanced Sharing Options
4. Avoid using your Personal Meeting ID (PMI) to host public events. Learn about meeting IDs and how to generate a random meeting ID (at the 0:27 mark) in this video tutorial:
5. Allow only signed-in users to join: If someone tries to join your (the host) meeting and isn’t logged into Zoom with the email they were invited through, they will receive the message below. Add this layer of protection: support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/artic…
6. Lock the Meeting: When you lock a meeting that’s already started, no new participants can join, even if they have the meeting ID and password (if required). To lock your meeting, click Manage Participants on the control panel > More > Lock Meeting
7. Remove unwanted or disruptive participants: As a host, from the Participants menu, you can mouse over a participant’s name, and several options will appear, including Remove. Click that to kick someone out of the meeting.
8. Mute participants: Hosts can mute/unmute individual participants or all of them at once (to block unwanted or distracting noise from other participants). You can also enable Mute Upon Entry in your settings to keep the clamor at bay in large meetings.
We hope these tips will help you Zoom safely! For more information on how you can protect your meetings, please see: bit.ly/2WyAeb8 #MeetHappy #WorkFromHome
