Today my mom humored me as I tried to list the #mbta current rolling stock in chronological order w/o using my phone. Massive 🤓 alert. I'm tweeting first before I'll look it up to see how close I was
Not counting the Green Type 9s, the Orange 1400s and the Red 1900s. So that leaves:
1) 🚇 Blue Line Siemens order 2000s
2) 🚋 Green Line Type 8 Breda cars. 2000s (derailing issue)
3) 🚇 Red Line Bombardier 1800s early 90s 93/95
4) 🚇 Red Line UTDC 1700s late 80s 87/89
5) 🚋 Green Line Type 7 mid 80s originally 🇯🇵 then rehabbed 🇫🇷
6) 🚇 Orange Line 1400s Hawker Siddeley 1979/80
7) 🚇 Red Line Pullmans 1969/70 15/1600s
And 8) 🚋 Mattapan Trolley Pullman post war estimated 75 years old. (that's the easiest!)
I have to admit I miss riding the T and the routine it brings. I paused my auto renew pass for April. I really hope I don't have to pause it for May onwards. 🚇🚋🚍
I used transithistory.org/roster/ which has an inventory for the entire #mbta I found out some Red Line stock has been rebuilt (makes sense)
✔️Blue Line 2007-09
✔️Green Line Type 8s 1999-2007
✔️Red Line 1800s 93/94
✔️Red Line 1700s 87-89 Rebuilt 2011-16
✔️Green Line Type 7s 86-89 Rehabbed 2015-19 🇯🇵 is Kinki-Sharyo and 🇫🇷 is Alstom
✔️Orange Line 79-81
✔️Red Line 15/1600s 69/70 Rebuilt 85-88
✔️Mattapan Trolley 1945/46 Rebuilt 78-83 AND 99-2005
So these are all checked and yes I was close. But I just said 2000s for both the Type 8s and Blue Line. They overlapped less than I thought. I got the Red Line. The Orange Line roll out took longer than I thought. There's still some 39 year old 🚇 cars! #mbta
