This isn't a thread about now.

It's more a cautionary tale from then, our history.

However I hope the topic is interesting. How many famous Nazi mistakes do you know?

The headlines yes, but the weird cultish lies that undermined the Nazi war machine, maybe not? Read on.

1. Distraction is a thing, I state now no intent to obscure the Holocaust with trivia. That was the most horrendous crime of all time.

And now the weird. You'll see the point(s).

The Aryan Campaign Poster Child (literally) was Jewish. Daughter of Jacob and Pauline Levinson...

2. Once Goebbels found out, instead of leaving it be, he created the "conspiracy of Jewsishness" denial.

It sapped Huge time and resources and explained some of the "bad" (for him) campaign decisions made later on. Mistakes an earlier, More ALERT, Goebbels wouldn't have made.

3. OCCULTISM - A Nazi obsession.

The Völkisch movement created the idea of pure rural Germany. This led to disdain for industrial bureaucratic Europe. They honoured fact denial.

The result was a massive dysfunction in Nazi administration including EQUIPMENT logistics.

4. Have you asked why the 3rd Reich? The Nazis held on to another Völkisch idea. Nazis said they were Germany's 3rd Empire. They had been more successful before they were polluted by Europe.

Removing this pollution would herald a great future. No one seemed to look at the cost.

5. Famously Goebbels invented the idea of The Big Lie, repeated so often it becomes true

The parallels with modern political behaviour (eyesight tests ) are often made.

But less discussed are the consequences of Big Lies.

What happens to decisions based on Lies? What cost?

6. Imagine you have 100s on the go? That degree of reality denial requires enormous investment in state controlled media, huge political management time and creates mistakes.

Whatever the advantage point was of Big Lies (if ever there was one) Nazis past it, and the impact hurt

7. Some of the most self damaging "mistakes" of the later war weren't mistakes at all. They were deliberate decisions made on the back of believed lies.

Famously Hitler lost defence of whole divisions, not due to bad planning but because they didn't exist and no one admitted it.

8. In the latter stages of the War, Germany refused logistical and equipment help from Japan.

This was badly needed.

But Nazis were incapable of reconciling the need with their Big Lies about the preparedness of their forces

And so much needed help was rejected as unnecessary.

9. Operation Barbarossa, the soviet front, was a disaster claimed to be a success at the start, middle and end.

The Nazis underestimated the threat of the communist "disease"

They claimed a strategy that immediately broke due to over-reach

Troop kit was woefully under supplied

10. Basic machines such as tanks we're not ordered in time

And preventative measures to secure supply lines, such as AIRPORTS were not taken, because of the strength of the Army.

Every one of these decisions would have been correct we're they not all in turn based on Big Lies

11. You'd expect after a disaster of that magnitude the Nazis would have learned.

Unfortunately as I frequently reflect, people who make bad decisions don't "wake up" and suddenly make good ones.

The waste more time covering up, killing more Citizens.

As the Russian tanks rolled into Germany, Berlin was still broadcasting the great success in the east.

In fact they were claiming victory over the Soviets right up to the exact moment the Russians blew up the Radio Masts.

11. If you think I'm using analogies to say UKGov are Nazis, I'm not.

UKGov are not as successful and a lot less principled

But they are certainly making the same mistakes.

Sadly UKGov has inherited this method with #cummings. We had lies before. For the first time, we have Media conspiracies

Europe pollution has too many #Brexit parallels to repeat.

Of course, the denial about integrated Just In Time economy is shared by us, as are logistic problems such as our inability post #Covid19 to rebuild the #Brexit medical stockpile.

Back to killing our own for politics.

Third Reich is, of course, every claim you've heard about things were better before the common market.

For the same reasons, even were it true, that world no longer exists and can't be recovered by throwing away the things we need for this world of today.

And of course, cost.

Lies on lies on lies on lies must be a disaster to manage for our current Government.

The irony of #Cummings claiming Prime Ministerial time was precious wasn't lost on any of you.

I'm sure his story consumed more #Johnson time that week than any #coronavirus activity.

We had our own Japan fiasco. Refusing EU help on PPE and ventilator not once, not twice, but three times.

And the excuses. Emails lost, faxes not any, ministers unaware about help on a topic of enormous importance?

How incredibly self-damaging to do that to maintain lies

Barbarosa is #Covid19 start to finish. Every mistake from underestimation, to lack PPE to #HerdImmunity, airport checks, you name it, we copied history.

But doubling down on lies is twice bad. Not only do you not act when you should. You waste more time and lives covering up.

The masts. Even now we've had #coronavirus success if #Johnsontheliar is to be believed.

If we've made no mistakes, there are no errors to correct. Is my logic then wrong to conclude we prioritise PM face-saving over actions to save lives?

Maybe a Nazi parallel after all.
