In the corona tests of the Gütersloh district in the dismantling of the Tönnies company, four out of five drawbacks were positive. Crisis team leader Thomas Kuhlbusch therefore called the Corona crisis team immediately

on Wednesday morning. Employees of the Gütersloh district with the support of the German Red Cross (DRK) and the Malteser Hilfsdienst (MHD) took 1,050 samples on the company's premises on Tuesday. There are currently 589 results, of which 395 are positive.

In the course of the morning, 20 more positive samples were added via the 'normal' routes -smears regardless of the testing of the circle. Further positive results can be expected. These positive results are not yet included in the current figures published daily by the district,

which refer to the time at midnight. In the immediately convened crisis team meeting, measures were defined to immediately minimize the risk of the virus spreading. There will be no general lockdown in the Gütersloh district.

District Administrator Sven-Georg Adenauer and NRW Minister of Health Karl-Josef Laumann had agreed on this. Representatives of the three main municipalities Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Verl and Gütersloh took part in the meeting of the crisis team.

For the Tönnies Group Tönnies, CEO Clemens Tönnies, among others, attended the crisis management team meeting. The Tönnies company was informed by the head of the crisis department of the district of Gütersloh immediately after the first results became known

that around 400 of the first 500 findings had been positive. The Tönnies company then stopped delivering more pigs on its own initiative. The contractors of the Tönnies company, who use employees in cutting,

have already been informed and instructed that their employees and all close contacts will not leave their homes for the time being. In the days before, tests by the company and resident doctors had given numerous employees of Tönnies and

its subcontractors a positive test for the corona virus. This had prompted the district to test at short notice all persons who worked on June 16 in the pig cutting, in the sow cutting, in the canteen and as employees of the Gütersloh district in official surveillance.

So far, around 400 positive laboratory results have been obtained from this series test. The laboratory results primarily concern people who are registered in the Gütersloh district. As far as people in other districts and independent cities

(such as the districts of Warendorf, Paderborn, Soest etc.) are concerned, the responsible health authorities are informed at short notice. After a crisis discussion to which District Administrator Adenauer had invited in the early morning of June 16,

the company had already significantly reduced the number of staff so that it was possible to keep the distances within the company. Due to the high number of new infections,

the district of Gütersloh clearly exceeded the critical mark of 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days. This brand is based on a federal-state agreement: If this is exceeded, measures should be considered to contain the outbreak.

However, this does not automatically lead to a lock-down.
