1/n Before leaving for hospital, I made my first post on #WorldSuicidePreventionDay

as I have strong belief and do practice that #suicidalthoughts_Medical_Emergency

2/n On reaching hospital, saw first patient in emergency who tries to harm herself due to hanging..somehow saved by family member. My first tweet of the day comes into my mind. Patient required admission. Decision was taken to admit for #SuicidePrevention..first step of treatment

3/n As ward rounds progressed I realised that under my direct supervised care, at least three patients admitted in last few days had strong suicidal thoughts..risk found to be high..Risk assessment is second step as #suicidalthoughts_Medical_Emergency

4/n On further exploration, these three patients with strong suicidal thoughts have received medications and supportive counselling in initial few days..Third step of management as #suicidalthoughts_Medical_Emergency #WorldSuicidePreventionDay

5/n Out of these 3 patients, two patients not improve much with medications and counselling..as life saving procedure, the decision of #ElectroConvulsiveTherapy #ECT was taken Always consider #suicidalthoughts_Medical_Emergency, please @IASPinfo @WHO

Let's advise admission and offer Medicines, Counselling and ECT to save life

Lastly, I forgot to mention that I chaired Departmental academic seminar on 'Neuromodulation beyond ECT' where new modalities of treatment other than ECT discussed. Also, discussed #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #suicidalthoughts_Medical_Emergency
