This shield used by US police to strike this @Channel7 journalist in Washington on June 1 was made in the UK.

This is a 🧵 on the visual forensics on just one of the cases from our #EUArms UK project with @LHreports, @bellingcat, @SkyNews & @guardian 👇
The same shield with the police print can be seen being used against protestors on that same day in Washington.
That same branding and design can be seen on this image of Donald Trump walking past police in Lafayette Park on June 1, 2020.
This branding is present on all of the shields, including the one used to strike the cameraman. This figure below shows the match of the branding, as well as other distinctive features.
Close-up images of the shields show specific wording of the branding, and the logo, on the lower half of the shield
This branding is that of Scorpion PPE. The logo is a clear match to that on the company logo.

The website provides that the “Scorpion range is made entirely in the UK”.
In the consolidated criteria (PL5001.b) for arms exports of the UK, anti-riot / ballistic shields are subject to the arms export control regime.
The Scottish government has already called to immediately suspend the export of tear gas, rubber bullets and riot shields to the US after the violent responses to the George Floyd protests.
independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…
In a letter dated 24th July 2020 from the UK govt to a British legal firm which is contesting the use of UK riot gear being sold to USA tells us that: there is no clear risk, not to suspend, amend, or revoke licences and to recommence the assessment of pending apps.
That same letter (dpglaw.co.uk/wp-content/upl…) concluded that while it was a "possibility", there is "no evidence" that UK-made anti-riot gear was used by police during America's Black Lives Matter protests - so we've just shown that visual evidence.
Here is another one we identified. It's an Armadillo Shield - made in the UK. This time it's used by #HKPolice in #HongKong against protestors in the #HongKongProtests.
There is more on our findings reported by investigators at the UK Arms workshop @sanyaburgess and @victoriaelms from @SkyNews in this cracking #OSINT piece news.sky.com/story/the-scor…
And a piece from @msrmichaelson from @guardian who also worked with our #UKArms workshop with investigators @leone_hadavi @hspvn @questiionn01 @er_woods @LudoHekman @LorandBodo & Ross Higgins

Over the past week there has been an increase in pro-Indonesian fake accounts writing in Dutch to influence debate over West Papuan independence.

The tweets primarily use the #FreeWestPapua tag. This thread is to show an example of the low-impact accounts 👇

Enter #1 @scewenzy. Profile picture is stolen from an LA-based model. Account tweets in Dutch and English with a variety of tags including #freewestpapua. Some of the following accounts were found through this account's retweets & likes. ImageImageImage
Let's take a look at #2 - @CleamentsJeans. This time they even used a similar name to the model they stole the image from (same as the fake account above). Tweets in Dutch and English. ImageImageImage

This grim video surfaced online on Jan 4, 2020, just after 9pm. It shows a group of young cadets in #Libya hit by a strike for which no one has ever claimed responsibility.

#BBCAfricaEye & @BBCArabic investigated this case for months, and this is what we found. [THREAD]
The strike happened in Libya's capital Tripoli, the base for Libya’s Govt of National Accord (GNA).

At the time of this attack, it was under siege from the Libyan National Army (LNA), which fights for a rival government based in the east.
An LNA spokesman claimed the cadets had been killed by local shelling, or perhaps by an attack from inside the academy.

But we can show this is not true, and we’re going to start with the box of shrapnel seen at the end of this clip.

Operation Lafiya Doyle air strikes on "Boko Haram" locations in Borno State by Nigerian Air Force on 25 June saw some pretty heavy bombing of remote villages. "Tongule Village" was one of the heavily hit areas. Its location is: goo.gl/maps/x54V7awcV… ImageImage
One of the strikes landed in the east side of the village, but looking at imagery from 2018 shows strikes took out a chunk of the village back then too. The box in red was an earlier strike from mid-2018. The June 25 bombing seen in screenshot landed here: goo.gl/maps/iVuGVwF4u… ImageImage
Second village in OP Lafiya Doyle bombing was "Bukar Meram" near Lake Chad. It is located here: goo.gl/maps/9psdr6gzs…. H/T @TomaszRolbiecki. Just like Tongule village, Bukar Meram had been bombed in the past (2019) as it was an alleged #ISWAP camp. ImageImageImageImage
