But, still, Barbara... as a fairytale ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ was so much fun. 🤩
And the narrative sort of fits the truth:
It would take a surreal, fictitious lifestyle & type of autism for a female to achieve such a status in #chess.
Women are typically too hyper-generalized.🌹
Even if I could tune out the world & it’s minutia to such an extreme I don’t know that I would want to.
Being a ‘super-generalist’ (able to multi-task & sense ‘deep humanity’ #instinct) tends to be the woman’s skill set.
Many of us depend upon this other form of brilliance. 😉
We are talking about the extreme fringes of human capacity re a singular variable.
Life doesn’t work that way for 99.9% of the population.
We have multi-faceted realms to negotiate, which can be harsh and delightful.
For those involved, #sports intensifies both to varying extent.

June 23 is the anniversary of #TitleIX; that wonderful law un #USA 🇺🇸 that enabled me to get my scholarship & education.
To commemorate I will demonstrate the difference in argument between those who wish to usurp women’s #sports and women like me who fight to preserve it.

The years 2015-2020 have revealed an insidious disregard for the #female category by #OlympicGames @olympics executives and their corporate sponsors.
Male (XY) 🧬athletes now allowed into XX events.
Time to take stock re #women’s #sports.
Where did we begin?
Where are we going?
Our story begins in the Egyptian Middle Kingdom (2000 B.C.)
Forms of women’s competition were somewhat different than we experience in 2020 A.D.
Contests revolved around two key aspects of #Egyptian life:
1. Food acquisition- #hunting & #fishing
2. Entertaining - #acrobatics
True #sports for women really began in Ancient Greece during the Classical period (400 B.C.). Unmarried girls had their own private competitions - also at Olympia every 4years.
These were separate from the men’s games.
The festivals were held in honour of Hera, wife of Zeus.

@Muttmere1 @BillieJeanKing @GovernorLittle @Martina @sharrond62 Two points
1. It’s not ethical.
2. It’s not #sports

See elaboration in tweets below⬇️
@Muttmere1 @BillieJeanKing @GovernorLittle @Martina @sharrond62 1/ I use “ethical” rather than invoking “fairness”, because of the predictable retort “who said life would be fair”. Having males in female sports goes beyond natural unfairness (typical skill variation)- it is a purposeful decision to disadvantage 50% of #Athlete population
@Muttmere1 @BillieJeanKing @GovernorLittle @Martina @sharrond62 2/ It’s not #sports.
In sports we have distinct categories based upon clearly defined boundaries so that the outcome has a specific meaning.
Example: Automobile racing.
👉🏼There would be no meaning to a race if a F1 🏎 would be allowed into #NASCAR race.
Different structures.

Thread:
1. Today I unfollowed a female person whom I have enjoyed following for years on Twitter. I will refer to her as EM. I have not always agreed with everything EM says. Since I love the men in my life I would often marvel at her extreme contempt for ALL men as a category.
2. At the same time, I felt that EM offered a unique voice on feminism – a prolific author and journalist whose lived experience spans Western and Middle Eastern worlds. There were many truths she would speak on the plight of women that had merit and that I needed to consider.
3. How deeply disappointing to witness EM now openly at war with a huge sector of the female population. I see her calling women the worst slurs available with a ferocity rarely expressed towards men.
