#Covid lockdowns were an unusual gift. Watching my roses wilt, leathers crack, convictions shake, relationships dull and few loved ones taken away, I came to appreciate the essence of #chaos in a non-mathematical way.
Riding the upstoppable arrow of #time, chaos can, and will take over everything – it's a question of when, not if. Spending 20+ hours for a whole year at home, I personally witnessed new order derive from, and decay back into chaos – yes, #entropy grows.
The silent master of #change, it lurks at the edge of all organisation, constantly tugging at equilibrium, ever ready to topple it into countless permutations of form, flavor and function. And through these, it shapes our shared, mortal destinies, at all #resolutions.
Fretting over or fighting chaos felt foolish, for it's what underpins the gift of variety and the hope of possibility. It endows us with uniqueness of personality, nuance in #experience, and fortitude for #survival – all central to the premise and promise of individuality.
I can't claim #wisdom to deal with the #uncertain – in fact, all my efforts to tame it have been futile, if not unfortunate. Instead, what has worked for me is allowing myself to be charmed by #disorder – with how it comes to be, slowly, a step at a time
Trying to be at oneness with chaos brought me the realisation that #curiosity can be my only asset, #resilience my only shield and stillness my only strategy.
For me, cultivating these has demanded a deliberate departure from the constant obsession with predictability, #productivity, permanence and #perfection – enemies of turbulent change. A departure that has freed my mind of the need to presume and premeditate.
Certainly, my personal #journey will continue. I don't seek a prescription, but love to be pointed to resources and thoughts that can enrich me along the way.
Somewhere in our conscious pursuit of patterns, grand order and #inspiration, we often miss something far more elemental – the delicate joy of connecting with #nature, beyond the practical function of existing in it.
It's how you #feel, when you stand gaping at a masterpiece in a gallery, and momentarily lose yourself into its contours. That is when your observation goes beyond being just "useful", burrows deep into the primal parts of your #brain, and tickles them with an awe.
Soaking in the occasional Sun outdoors is a rare delight, as more days of cold, cloudy #weather coming through. And every once in a while, fate rewards me with an exclusive close up of nature's masterpieces – an enchanting #honeybee, the other day.
