1/18 #Russia #Ukraine #History a thread quoting Georgij Chornyj's "Who are We Ukrainians": The ancestors of the modern day Russians are Finno-Ugric peoples (the Mordvin, Mera, Muroma,Meschera and Ves peoples and other Finno-Ugric groups). After their conquest by the Slavic state
2/18 of Rus in the twelfth century they began calling themselves Ruskyj. This, among other things, is a rare instance when the name of a people became not a noun but an adjective. This adjective, this one little word, later became a "Trojan Horse" which was so indulgently and
3/18 recklessly left by the Rus people to the detriment of their inheritors, the Ukrainians. In the fifteenth century, when the state of Muscovy was established on the lands of the Finno-Ugric peoples, the rulers of Moscow utilised the temporary statelessness of Rus' and too its
4/18 name, swapping it for their proper title, Muscovy. They conceived of a false historical conception in place of Rus, the name they had stolen, Kievan Rus'. There has in fact never been a state named Kievan Rus, it was simply termed Rus. A theft of history occurred within
5/18 which the name of the Rus people was used as the pretext for encroaching on a neighbouring state whose name had the same origin. The purpose of this deceitful theft was to acquire seemingly legitimate rights to the history and territory of the Kyiv state which existed in the
6/18 ninth and tenth centuries when Muscovy was not even an embryo. The prominent historian Mychailo Hruš evs'kyj was compelled to introduce a new more precise name for our state and territory, Ukraina-Rus', in order to distance his work from the thief and its attempt to tie the
7/18 history of the Finno-Ugric peoples to Kievan-Rus'. Modern historians, comprehending the essence of this historical theft, deploy, with increasing frequency, the names the Kyiv State, The Great Kyiv Princedom and Rus' for that medieval state. They simultaneously eschew the
8/18 fake names of Kievan Rus' and Ancient Rus'. It is pertinent to note that folk memory is far more stable than any of these political renamings. The modern Latvians, for example, call the Russians Krievs, which originates from the Krivichs, the ancient neighbours of the
9/18 forebears of the Latvians. In the lexicon of the Finnish language the word Russia is translated as Venäjä which originates from the general name of some peoples who were known as the Veneti. We see, therefore, that resilient folk memory does not accept any of the later names
10/18 of the Russian state, neither Muscovy nor the name Rus' stolen from the Ukrainians nor the artificially conceived word Russia.
11/18 Apart from the similarity in the renaming of these two ancient peoples, the Dacians and the Finno-Ugric peoples there is a great difference between them. The descendants of the Dacians never claimed the history and territory of their former conquerors and their descendants.
12/18 This contrasts with those descendants of the Finno-Ugric peoples who are now the Russians, and whose appropriation of history is an eternal and painful problem for their neighbours, the Ukrainians. It transpires, furthermore, that the same problem existed much earlier when
13/18 the terrain of modern Ukraine was inhabited by the ancestors of the Ukrainians and the Rus, who were the Aryans. At that time, several Finno-Ugric tribes lived to the north of the Aryans in the forest belt between the Vistula and the Eastern Urals. We have discovered the
14/18 nature of the difficult, unfriendly relations between the Aryans and their northern neighbours four thousand years later thanks to the linguistic witnesses of the past. Philologists have determined that the word 'orja', which references the name Aryan, means slave or
15/18 servant in most Finno-Ugric languages.1 This linguistic relic tells us of the capture of Aryans and their captivity by the Finno-Ugric peoples was sufficiently large scale that the word Aryan became synonymous with slave for Finno-Ugric people.
16/18 The eternal confrontation between these two neighbouring peoples continues up until the present era. Its most recent manifestation is the capture of Crimea and part of the Donbas by the successors of the Finno-Ugric peoples in the first half of 2014. The seizure occurred in
17/18 the same criminal manner as the theft of the name Rus and according to the established principles of an experienced marauder. While the neighbour's house was burning the “eternal green men” were simultaneously abducting his cow.2 In the words of Taras Shevchenko, “he will
18/18 see your misfortune and sink his claws into you- do not plead for the tears of your wife and children will not move him.”

1/32 #FBPE a refresher on the links between Firtash, the GOP and #Brexit and what they mean. #FollowBackFriday On 23 March 2011, Dmytro Firtash, wearing the ornate robe of a Cambridge University beneficiary, shook hands with Prince Philip. That moment marked the peak of his #FBPE
2/32 ascent in British society. The village boy who once loved pasturing cows had come a long way. Thanks to his PR team, he enjoyed the image of a businessman and patron of the arts in the UK. #FBPE
3/32 As bagman for mobster Semion Mogilevich, Firtash directly links the Russian mafiya to the British Establishment. He was once described by a Chicago attorney general as “upper-echelon associat[e] of Russian organised crime”. Eight years after his royal handshake, #FBPE

1/27 Thread on Russian links to the Tories, using the example of #Temerko and how they work #FBPA #FBPE . In 2005, Mikhail Khodorkovsky – who until 2003 had been one of the richest men in Russia – sat staring through the bars of a cage in a Russian court like a circus tiger.
2/27 His Yukos oil firm had been seized by the Russian Government and broken up, and he was accused, implausibly, of ordering several murders. Alexander Temerko, the vice president of Yukos, fled to the UK that year to avoid the loss of his liberty and perhaps his life.
3/27 Fourteen years later, Temerko has risen through the ranks of British society. He was a regular confidante of Boris Johnson when, as Foreign Secretary, he was plotting to overthrow the then Prime Minister Theresa May. As a British citizen and a member of the Leaders’ Group of
