Solutions have been put forward. @TamePunk has called for a national definition on consent, many have asked for consent training in schools and the Respect@Work report has sat with Porter for a year. Look at the thread below, there are many solutions.

I don't think that's helping women come forward either @vanOnselenP. Mental health issues have nothing to do with the legitimacy of a rape claim and naturally, victims will battle mental health issues.

On Insiders, you said: “At the micro level though, if it’s someone you know and if they claim that they're innocent, boy it’s a difficult issue.”

Again, not a statement that would encourage victims to come forward @vanOnselenP!

You also tweeted this @vanOnselenP. Maybe you're friend Christian Porter is innocent, but your conflict of interest like your Tweet about reading 'The Trial' is entirely inappropriate.

I struggle to see Peter how you can do all that I've listed above and then write "What those failings exactly are is clear enough: low numbers of women coming forward when sexually assaulted."

Surely you can see that your previous behaviour isn't helping women come forward.

If a woman is raped, assaulted or harassed by a politician or someone with power & influence tomorrow @vanOnselenP; it's quite possible that she might not go to Police, just in case her rapist is good friends with a journalist who might discredit her in a national paper!

Such as the Respect@Work report which the Government has had for over a year now and done nothing with. Why doesn't your article mention this @vanOnselenP?

Stop writing about Christian Porter. Do you not know what a conflict of interest is Peter?

Are we allowed to shoot the man with the clear conflict of interest?

.@vanOnselenP writes a few paragraphs on how the legal system might change, having written in a previous paragraph "the task of fixing what has long been broken must be taken up by experts".

You aren't an expert on this issue Peter. You shouldn't be writing on it.

What vigilante justice are you referring to @vanOnselenP? Is this enough pathetic attempt to defend your friend Chrisitan Porter?

It's also time for the journalists who are friends with an alleged rapist to stop writing on this topic!

In summary, I cannot fathom how Peter has written this article having entirely ignored the excellent solutions and ideas put forward by many intelligent people already. I also don't understand how Peter has written this article given his previous articles and commentary.

Have you forgotten @vanOnselenP that you used your platform to discredit a dead woman and defend an alleged rapist that is your friend?

I haven't and neither has the rest of #auspol.
