WHO is providing people in #Tigray with essential supplies and supporting #healthworkers to prevent and treat severe malnutrition.

Where there is hunger, disease follows closely behind. People who are weakened by acute malnutrition are more at risk of falling sick and dying from diseases such as cholera or malaria. #Tigray
Children are at the highest risk of dying from malnutrition. They catch infections more easily, take longer to recover, and may be weaker for the rest of their lives. This is why people need access to health services including nutritional care. #HealthForAll #Tigray
Access constraints and attacks on aid workers continue to undermine health services delivery, and increase the spread of diseases. Without an end to conflict and unhindered humanitarian access, the situation will not improve and more people will die. #Tigray

The world has made significant progress but #HIV is far from over. In 2020, there were:

🚨 37.6 million people living with HIV

Despite the challenges of #COVID19, the #UNGA 🇺🇳 High-Level Meeting offers us a chance to end #AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. bit.ly/3za8iuR

"Two people crawl into two different #MentalHealth services... One person is offered an outstretched hand & a listening ear.... The other person is given an unmarked pill bottle & a door that they don’t have a key for"

Which type of care would you choose? bit.ly/3iCw1ON
"In cities both struggling and flourishing,
#MentalHealth services turn away from respect
and refuse to look human rights in the eye."

We need mental health care that is both respectful of human rights and focused on recovery.
[#MentalHealth services] getting it right are “few & far between, but they are a shining beacon of hope to those who ask for help.
Where professionals treat the person & not just the symptoms."

Such services not only respect rights but are proving successful & cost-effective.
