CASE UPDATE: Last night a federal judge granted our request to block part of a new Arizona abortion law just hours before it was set to take effect. The “reason ban” portion of the law will remain blocked while the case continues.
Arizona has existing abortion restrictions that make it harder for people to access care, including:
❗A mandatory 24-hour waiting period
❗A ban on the use of telemedicine for medication abortion services
❗A law banning advanced practice clinicians from providing abortions
“People should not be interrogated about their reason for seeking an abortion. There are no right or wrong reasons...We will keep fighting this ban and the personhood requirement until they are struck down for good.” Emily Nestler, Center Senior Counsel
This case was filed by the Center for Reproductive Rights, @ACLU, and @ACLUaz on behalf of Arizona physicians and advocates. Read our full statement in this latest case development here: reproductiverights.org/new-arizona-ab…

HAPPENING NOW: The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee is holding a hearing on the Supreme Court's shadow docket and the harms of Texas' unconstitutional abortion ban #SB8.

🔴 Watch this hearing live: judiciary.senate.gov/meetings/texas…
“It’s important to understand that #SB8 was preceded by policies and legislation that reduced access to care by creating medically unnecessary obstructions to health care…#SB8 was the culmination of a decade of erosion of access to abortion health care.” @DonnaHowardTX
"This is about personal freedom and respecting that women know what is best for them, their family, and their destinies. This is about health care and trust in the doctor-patient relationship." —@DonnaHowardTX

#BREAKING: Today the U.S. House of Representatives voted YES for the Women’s Health Protection Act. We are one step closer to a future where we're ALL free to make the personal decisions that shape our lives, futures & families. #ActforAbortionAccess #WHPA
This is the first time in history the House of Representatives is voting on proactive, stand-alone legislation to protect abortion rights. 👏
We currently face a wave of anti-abortion legislation across the nation and a looming Supreme Court case that threatens to undermine #RoevWade. By passing the Women’s Health Protection Act, the House of Representatives has made it clear: enough is enough.

HAPPENING NOW: @RepJudyChu, @SpeakerPelosi, and other leaders in Congress are speaking about why they are voting TODAY on the Women's Health Protection Act #WHPA. 👏
Thank you @RepJudyChu, @AyannaPressley, @RepBarbaraLee & @RepDianaDeGette for recognizing our human rights & working to build a future where we are all free to make the personal decisions that shape our lives, futures & families.
"The right to reproductive freedom is essential. It’s a constitutional right and make no mistake extreme and dangerous laws like SB 8 in Texas will harm people of low incomes and people of color most and will eventually...take abortion rights away from all people.”—@RepBarbaraLee

#BREAKING: We just filed with the U.S. Supreme Court AGAIN in our ongoing fight to block Texas’ radical ban on abortion #SB8. The plaintiffs in this case are a broad coalition of Texas abortion providers led by @WholeWomans.
➡️ What's different this time: We've asked #SCOTUS to hear the defendants’ motions to dismiss the case, which were denied by the district court—and hopefully, expedite the case.
Every day that Texas’ ban is allowed to stay in effect has severe consequences on the health and well-being of millions in the state.
