It’s 20 years since I had to ask a PR firm to remove Priti Patel from the account of the conservation charity I was running because she was so rude to our junior staff, and I see she is still being uninvited to meetings even now she holds one of the great offices of state.

Unfortunately we have a government whose faux sadness at yesterday's tragedy is trumped by its serious consideration of jet skis, wave machines, and manoeuvres that could result in drowning, a policy so heinous that Border Force wants no part in it.

This isn't civilised policy.
You can’t just wang on about having a ‘returns’ policy, these are human beings not a fucking Amazon delivery. #idiocracy #Refugees #ToryShambles

Please watch this. Patel should hang her head in shame. It’s a complex issue, yes, but her rhetoric & approach make everything infinitely worse.

No civilised country would behave in this way. Don’t read the comments beneath this or you’ll see the sort of society she has created.
Here is a very good explainer from @ZoeJardiniere on the refugee issue - some handy facts for the ‘why don’t they just stay in France’ racist brigade. It’s a must-watch actually, not least for the dignity with which she handles a frothy-mouthed idiotic MP.

It’s worth trying to sit through this whole clip and then estimating how many brain cells in your head died during the process.

Imagine being a grown up and finding yourself on the radio with a straight face talking about Peppa and Daddy Pig as role models and someone who just embarrassed your country to the world, again, being a great communicator, or writing tweets like this when you are over 16.
