People who already have #LongCovid, had previous covid but recovered, or still have covid-related subclinical (barely symptomatic damage) could be particularly at risk from a variant which is so good at reinfection.

Not everyone in the world is vaccinated, or boosted, especially children --- do we *really* want a SARS virus to infect kids unchecked?! People in low-income countries, or marginalised communities, don't have access to vaccination. Not everyone responds optimally to vaccination
We don't fully understand #Omicron | SARS-CoV-2 longest term impact on human health. The emerging data aren't encouraging, especially for those with symptomatic disease. We know the sequelae are bad, sometimes devastating for those who had covid pre-vaccination: #LongCovid
We don't know the full scope and scale of #Omicron pathogenesis, and to what extent it is different from other variants in the long term: one, two, twenty years, a lifetime. The precautionary principle is crucial here
We know #Omicron moves so fast and it's so good at reinfection (compared to previous covid variants) that it's already putting our socio-economic and healthcare system under duress

We know the vaccine | esp. 3 doses | remains a strong weapon against severe disease in many. But vaccination in our current state of affairs is not everything. We need the right message, we need all safety measures up, including airborne prevention and clean air

We hopefully will not have situations again --at least in highly vaccinated areas --like Bergamo in 2020. If we keep safety measures up. But the situation isn't as rosy as many accounts are trying to portray it. The people dying of #Omicron or getting #LongCovid are humans
Delta and other variants might still be already around or rising anew and unchecked of course
