This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between #China and the #ROK. Bilateral relations embrace important opportunities for development and also face some practical challenges.
It is in the common interests of both sides to well maintain and develop bilateral relations, otherwise, the two countries will both suffer. This is the successful experience of the continuous development of bilateral relations over the past 30 years.
#China and the #ROK are close neighbors and inseparable partners. The two countries are in a security environment where the two peoples rise and fall together, and have formed an industrial cycle of converging interests.
The two sides should uphold the already reached consensus and understanding, and maintain the stability and continuity of mutual policies. Both #China and the #ROK are of the oriental culture, which stresses integrity.
#China is willing to work with the #ROK to reaffirm the original aspiration of establishing diplomatic ties, focus on mutually beneficial cooperation & remove internal & external interference, so as to maintain the momentum for sound & steady development of bilateral relations.

Today marks the 85th anniversary of the “#Lugou Bridge (Marco Polo Bridge) Incident”. 85 years ago today, #Japanese militarism created the so-called “Lugou Bridge (Marco Polo Bridge) Incident” to launch full-scale invasion of #China.
After bloody battles and unyielding fight, the #Chinese people defeated the heinous #Japanese militarists and won the great victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. The #CPC was the pillar in achieving this great victory.
The victory was also an important part of the #World Anti-Fascist War. It was a victory for the #Chinese people and for people of the world. China believes that to grow China-Japan relations, it is important to see history as a mirror and look ahead to the future.

In his video call with Biden, President Xi pointed out China does not want to see situation in Ukraine to come to this. China stands for peace & opposes war. This is embedded in China’s history & culture. China makes a conclusion independently based on the merits of each matter.
China advocates upholding international law and universally recognized norms governing international relations. China adheres to the UN Charter and promotes the vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security.
These are the major principles that underpin China’s approach to the Ukraine crisis. China has put forward a six-point initiative on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine, and is ready to provide further humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and other affected countries.

It was a great pleasure attending the launching ceremony of the Center for UK Studies, Communication University of Zhejiang, and unveiling the Plaque together with Party Secretary Yang Liping of CUZ. @ChineseEmbinUK ,@ukinchina
I said at the ceremony that with the world facing changes and a pandemic unseen in a century, and the China-UK relationship standing at a critical juncture, the launch of the Centre cannot be more timely. I shared 3 expectations for the Centre. (266字符)
1st, I hope it will be a “pioneer” for UK studies, fill in the blanks in research on media, film, TV & edu, & more importantly, use the right way to tell the UK story & China story well, & help the world understand a reliable, amicable & respectable China.

Over the years, #China’s relationship with the #EU has withstood profound changes in the world. It has focused on dialogue, cooperation and mutual benefit, and demonstrated strong vitality by progressing with the times. 🇨🇳🇪🇺
It is important to stay committed to peaceful coexistence, open cooperation, #multilateralism, and dialogue and consultation. #China and the #EU are comprehensive strategic partners, not systemic rivals.
In 2020, #China became the #EU's largest trading partner for the first time. The two sides signed the agreement on #GeographicalIndications, decided to establish high-level dialogue mechanisms on #environment & #climate and on digital cooperation, and concluded #BIT negotiations.

Glad to have given an interview on China-UK relations to Global Times @globaltimesnews, which was published on 17 August, 2020 in the newspaper and on the website. The full transcript of the interview is as follows: globaltimes.cn/content/119790… Image
Q: On UK's moves on BNO, Huawei&Hong Kong, what counter-measures will China take?
A: The UK Government, in disregard of China's solemn representations, is bent on carrying out political manipulation on the issues of BNO and the extradition treaty with Hong Kong. Image
A: The Chinese side strongly opposes such acts of the UK side which openly go against its own pledge, violate international law and the basic norms governing international relations, and blatantly interfere in Hong Kong affairs, which are internal affairs of China.

I took questions on #Xinjiang at online press conference and debunked the lies permeating Western media. They are “the lies of the century” and have been used to discredit China&interfere in China’s internal affairs. I want to let facts be known & show the real Xinjiang.
First, Xinjiang-related issues have nothing to do with human rights, ethnic groups or religions, but everything to do with fighting violent terrorism, separatism&extremism. Since 1990s, violent attacks have caused devastating casualties of innocent people&huge loss of property.
Anti-terrorism and de-radicalisation measures have been very effective: there has not been a single terrorist attack for 3+ years in a row in Xinjiang, and the basic rights of all ethnic groups, especially the rights to life, health and development, are fully safeguarded.
