Last night Front Steps Housing & Services (formerly Transitional Housing Inc.) held its first Home for All Ball since 2019. Front Steps provides permanent supportive housing & essential services needed to regain their independence. frontstepsservices.org#HousingFirst@FrontCle
Front Steps Housing & Services was founded in 1986 as Transitional Housing Inc. (THI). It was one of the first transitional #housing programs in the country designed to serve #homeless & disabled women. frontstepsservices.org
Four sisters from the Congregation of St. Joseph purchased an old Econo Lodge motel on West 25th Street & renovated it. The building was transformed into a 60-unit residence. Transitional Housing Inc. (THI) opened its doors to residents in January 1986.
From inception to 2010, THI served more than 3,000 #homeless women & children, with a 98% success rate of clients moving into permanent #housing. In 2010, THI began retooling its delivery model to permanent supportive housing.
The restructuring was a direct result of the Homeless Emergency Assistance & Rapid Transition to Housing Act (HEARTH Act), which was signed into law in 2009. It was also in response to the changing landscape of the local Cleveland/Cuyahoga County #homeless continuum of care.
The HEARTH Act focuses on providing a permanent solution to end the cycle of #homelessness. In 2011, THI had fully embraced the national best practice of the Housing First model. The nonprofit converted 10 of its 60 transitional housing units into permanent supportive #housing.
The 10 permanent supportive #housing units served chronically #homeless disabled women. #THI established a collaborative relationship with Emerald Development Economic Network (#EDEN) to provide rental subsidies for those units. edeninc.org@FrontCle@eden_CLE
Transitional Housing Inc. (#THI) began a strategic planning process in 2013 to further respond to changes in the local #homeless community & shifts in government funding. I was a THI Board member at the time, so I participated in the process.
#THI converted its 50 remaining transitional housing units to permanent supportive housing. All 60 units serve individuals & families in Cuyahoga County, who are living with a mental illness &/or economically disadvantaged.
In 2014, Transitional Housing Inc. was renamed Front Steps Housing & Services to align with the scope of services provided to residents & the local community. “Front Steps” is a symbolic reference to home & represents the starting place for new beginnings. frontstepsservices.org/blog/2015/6/11…

The meeting will be held in the Ohio Room at the ADAMHS Board Offices, located on the 6th floor of 2012 West 25th St., Cleveland, OH 44113. Free parking is available in the lot behind the building off of West 25th Street.
The meeting will also be live-streamed. But sometimes there are issues with the audio. A link is available on the Board’s website: adamhscc.org/Home/Component…
Reports show ‘epic failure’ at Cuyahoga County children services office, but officials say hands are tied
According to this August story by Kaitlin Durbin, several staff said the agency is an “epic failure” on all fronts. cleveland.com/news/2022/08/r…
Chris Ronayne said the county government is “not navigable” for residents. “People don't know what it is, where it is & who's doing what over there.” The system has been “gummed up.” He asked “Are we in a tower downtown? Are we in our communities?”
He reiterated the importance of supporting local council members, Community Development Corporations (CDCs), nonprofits & mayors with neighborhood family service centers. Chris Ronayne said they're serving in communities on “main street. They're early watchers.”
A self-titled group of “patriots” launched an effort to crank call @DeptVetAffairs Veterans Crisis Line & urged supporters to clog the line with calls complaining #veterans arrested for the Jan. 6 Capitol Hill riot are being mistreated in custody. taskandpurpose.com/news/veterans-…
On Monday, the group held a live-streamed vigil outside the VA’s National Capital Regional Office in Washington, D.C. A man who identified himself as “Justin Johnson” urged 1776 Restoration Movement supporters to they could help the cause by calling the #veterans crisis line.
“Justin Johnson” said: “So, you dial 988 – they made it easier than ever to call. So, you dial 988 & then you press 1.” He put his phone up to the camera to show people the number to call & said: “So, let them know that there is inhumane treatment going on at the D.C. jail.”
I encourage concerned @CuyahogaCounty residents to attend Tuesday’s @CuyahogaCouncil meeting & make a public comment at the beginning of the meeting. It starts at 5 pm at the County admin HQ at the 4th floor. You have 3 minutes to speak. #ARPA#RapeCrisis@clevelandrcc
I literally got a tension headache when I read this story. It was so well written I assumed @njKaitlinDurbin wrote it. But it was written by @clevelanddotcom’s new Stimulus Watch reporter @LucasDaprile.
As a #Parma resident, I’m surprised & embarrassed @ParmaMayor Tim DeGeeter, Parma City Council President Sean @BrennanForParma & @CuyahogaCouncil member Scott Tuma thought rebuilding the city’s golf course club house was a good use of #ARPA funds because they are good leaders.
Researchers believe #troops’ exposure to sarin gas is to blame for the mysterious unexplained collection of illnesses known as Gulf War syndrome. About 250,000 #veterans have complained of chronic symptoms like fever, fatigue, #memory problems, body pain, etc… #GulfWar#research
