From today, Just Stop Oil will halt its campaign of civil resistance on the M25. We are giving time to those in Government who are in touch with reality to consider their responsibilities to this country at this time. (1/6)
We ask that the Prime Minister consider his statement at COP27, where he spoke of the catastrophic threat posed by the ravages of global heating, the 33 million people displaced by floods in Pakistan, and the moral and economic imperative to honour our pledges. (2/6)
Take the necessary first step to ensure a liveable future and halt new oil and gas. The UK Government’s failure to do so is a criminal dereliction of its fundamental duty — to protect and safeguard the lives of its citizens, (4/6)
🛣 BREAKING: M25 BLOCKED FOR FOURTH CONSECUTIVE DAY 🛣
🚧 From 6:30 this morning, supporters of Just Stop Oil climbed onto the overhead gantries of the M25 at multiple locations, demanding that the Govt immediately end all new oil and gas.
“I understand people must be frustrated with us, and rightly so, but we have to disrupt daily life because we are hurtling towards climate catastrophe, yet the Government continues to betray me, my generation and people in the Global South by issuing new oil licenses.”
Sam Holland, 20, said of the government's plan to license more oil:
💬 "I'm getting screwed over. I'm twenty years old. What does my future look like when I'm forty? It looks like there's no food on the shelves. It looks like people fighting in the streets."
“I’m doing this for my baby nephew and his unborn sister. I want them to have a chance at a future. The government is responsible for criminal inaction on the climate crisis. They should be in prison."
🧯 At 8:30am today, 6 Just Stop Oil supporters sprayed orange paint from fire extinguishers onto the Home Office, the MI5 building, the Bank of England and the headquarters of News Corp at London Bridge.

🏛 The buildings were chosen to represent the four pillars that support and maintain the power of the fossil fuel economy — government, security, finance and media.
📣 A Just Stop Oil spokesperson said:
“We are not prepared to stand by and watch while everything we love is destroyed, while vulnerable people go hungry and fossil fuel companies and the rich profit from our misery.

“I'm doing this because it breaks my heart to witness the tragedies that are happening and will keep coming because of our actions, and to live in a crumbling world and not do anything is unbearable.”
🦺 Helen Redfern, 57, a grandmother of four and social enterprise founder from Gateshead, said:
“I'm joining the Just Stop Oil campaign today because for me, taking nonviolent direct action seems to be the only option left to me.

🏛 We will not be intimidated by changes to the law and we will not be stopped by private injunctions sought to silence peaceful people. We understand that these are irrelevant when set against the collapse of society as we know it.
