What did the Tokayev-Nazarbayev regime dislike so much in the OSCE assessment?
Tokayev, continuing the tradition of Nazarbayev, did not allow the real opposition to participate in the elections, and the OSCE observers recorded this in detail in the report.

The #OSCE mentioned as an example the political persecution and obstacles to participation in the elections for members of the "Alga Kazakhstan" party.
⠀
In particular, the observers detailed that the unregistered opposition group "Alga Kazakhstan" announced @nnienass

that they were
holding peaceful demonstrations on November 20 against the holding of snap elections. Akimats of several cities refused to hold events after receiving notifications, and detention and administrative arrest measures were applied to organizers and

potential participants.
🔵The report notes that:
- on the eve of the elections, the akimats of Almaty, Astana, Kostanay, Petropavlovsk, Shymkent and Taraz refused to hold peaceful protests on November 20 in response to notifications from civil activists and members @IJoveva

of "Alga Kazakhstan".

of administrative arrest for “violating the rules for organizing peaceful assemblies”in connection with a party rally held on August 21, 2022.”
⠀
🔵 The OSCE noted the discriminatory and unjustified violation of the rights of "Alga Kazakhstan"activists by the authorities:

▪️“Paragraph 36 of General Comment No. 37 (2020)
on the right to peaceful assembly (Article 21) states that “the imposition of any restrictions should be based on the aim of facilitating the exercise of the right, and not on the desire for its unnecessary

and disproportionate restrictions” .
⠀
▪️“Restrictions must not be discriminatory, infringe on the essence of a right, or be intended to discourage participation in assemblies or cause a dissuasive effect.”
