🧵 A few years ago, Canadians associated #conspiracytheories with harmless lunacy promoted by nutbars. Then the COVID19 pandemic brought them to the forefront during the so-called #FreedomConvoy and #OttawaOccupation.
From #QAnon , #SoldiersofOdin, #Diagolon, #YellowVests so-called Christians etc. passing as truckers while spouting hateful white nationalism, racism, Islamophobia rhetoic and backed financially by several American far-right groups, the craziness revealed was much closer to home
Ir was so close to home that the Interim CPC Leader Bergen, past CPC Leader Scheer and current CPC Leader Poilievre met with them. The latter even provided donuts and marched with the so-called protestors who plotted a coup of a duly elected govt. drive.google.com/file/d/108Ikc_…

And all the while the CPC distanced themselves from their obvious connectedness to the lunatic fringe.
In Canada today @CanadianPM Trudeau and President @vonderleyen drove progress on shared and urgent #CanadaEU priorities, including Ukraine, climate change, energy security and women’s economic empowerment. Read more: pm.gc.ca/en/news/news-r…
While the country was still reeling from CPC Leader @PierrePoilievre saying three members of his party MPs Leslyn Lewis, Dean Allison and Colin Carrie who met with a German politician from a far-right party will stay in caucus, he and other CPC MP`s chose not to be in the HoC.

1/2 Have #farrightradicals infiltrated Canada’s conservative parties? We’re about to find out. For years now, Canada’s #Conservatives have played footsie with an increasingly radicalized right-wing populist movement. ⬇️
2/3 So why, rather than distance themselves from that movement as it approached the nation’s capital, did so many leading Canadian Conservatives embrace it? ⬇️
3/3 And why, given what was already known about that movement’s leaders and their extremist views, did people like #Poilievre go out of their way to court them? nationalobserver.com/2022/04/29/opi…

#cdnpoli@PierrePoilivere is the 4th lame duck CPC leader in 7 years with nothing to quack but a "secret" plan to sell us down the river like Harper did. He cannot expand on CPC's "hopeful" polices and how they would better benefit Canadian's health as they can't be found.
On February 2, 2023, the Government of Canada introduced legislation to extend the temporary exclusion of eligibility in circumstances where a person's sole underlying medical condition is a mental illness for a period of one-year, until March 17, 2024. justice.gc.ca/eng/cj-jp/ad-a…
#Freedom can flow from order. That is not to say that freedom always flows from order because you can have a totalitarian order and you can have an undemocratic order from which freedom will not flow, but that surest way to destroy freedom is to have chaos. Pierre Elliot Trudeau
Obviously I prefer freedom, but I know, and I think all history has told us, that freedom cannot flow from anarchy and disorder. Pierre Elliott Trudeau
If Canada is to survive, it can only survive in mutual respect and in love for one another.
Pierre Elliott Trudeau
My idea of freedom is that we should protect the rights of people to believe what their conscience dictates, but fight equally hard to protect people from having the beliefs of others imposed upon them.

Trudeau announces multiple investigations into foreign election interference
Conservatives and New Democrats have called for a public inquiry cbc.ca/news/politics/…
Trudeau said he's tasked the country's two intelligence review bodies the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians NSICOP and the National Security and Intelligence Review Agency — with investigating the issue.
National Security and Intelligence Review Agency (NSIRA) is an independent and external review body that reviews all national security and intelligence activities. NSIRA will look at how Canada's intelligence agencies work what information flowed or didn't flow properly and why.
Women tend to spend more time on local and civic issues, or volunteering for schools and clubs, because they perceive these activities as more important than volunteering for a political party. Now is the time for Canadian women to step out of that comfort zone and #BringitHome
Increasing women's and minority representation in our #cdnpolitics is essential because it can lead to greater equality and to better social, economic and political outcomes.
Women need support to move from local and civic issues to becoming candidates for public office but I believe we are ready to move fast forward on this in 2023.
Is it time for Canadian woman to do a clean sweep of #cdnpolitics from grassroots up?
