Yesterday we saw #Russia's brotherly love for Eton Musk. Russian advances in #Bakhmut. Explosions in occupied #Melitopol as well as usual attacks on the liberated part of #Kherson and #Kharkiv.

Also @ToniScottSays reminds me it's Shakespeare's birth (and death) day adding "may the bard be with you!"
As long as you don't think this thread is much ado about nothing, I'm happy.
Cheers for all the replies + retweets helping overcome Twitter restrictions💙💛
More on the #Kherson "landings" by #Ukraine troops on the other side of the river.
Here's one, sent by @VASILIS11O - again I'm told these have been happening for weeks and are getting more common, but I'm not convinced there's a "permanent" camp (yet!):
Also in occupied bits of #Kherson & #Zaporizhzhia regions, many reports of #Russia's invaders grilling locals to know how many fighting age men remain in their village.
Trying to get occupied peoples to fight against their own is a war crime, but as UK says, 🇷🇺 is desperate
A gradfather on the outskirts of #Moscow says he found this American weapon in the garbage.
"Valeriy" found the Shoulder-Launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon (SMAW) grenade launcher in a waste truck behind a supermarket while he looked for cardboard.
Yesterday I posted a video from #ChasivYar, from where the supplies and rotating troops come from for #Bakhmut
Between the two on this route is the village of #Khromove. Sadly, the drone footage shows how many casualties there have been, and continue to be, on this deadly route.
The #Kherson landings again now.
My assessment confirmed by spokeswoman for 🇺🇦 South Command, Natalia Humeniuk
"When the front line passes through the wide and powerful obstacle of Dnipro river, it's a very difficult task. That's why the 'Study of War' needs to be patient."
A very nice surprise this morning to find a 'Ko-Fi' donation from #Bavaria - thank you Dr! Sunday wouldn't be Sunday without a nice cappuccino!
Vielen dank!
Baza also has a story about this poor man, who suffered a stroke and a brain haemmorage in #Moscow
Such is #Putin's #Russia, that police arrested him for being drunk. The next day police just dumped him on the street, without his expensive rings but with bruises from batons.
WTF? Another startling example of life in #Putin's #Russia!
Employees at "Wildberries" are forced to strip to their underwear and pass over belongings for "inspection" before starting work.
A work by @banksy on the outskirts of #Kyiv is being dismantled, but protected.
In Irpen, the council installed a structue of concrete blocks as the bombed building is demolished. The artwork is being cut out and placed in a metal frame, to be displayed elsewhere. #SaveUkraine
#Russia is throwing a hissy-fit over the U.S. refusing to give visas to so-called journalists from the Terrorist State.
FM Lavrov, who'll chair UN meetings said it "showed the worth of solemn assurances on freedom of speech”, conveniently ignoring Russia jailing a US journalist.
#Wagner owner Prigozhin promises to "destroy everyone who is on the battlefield and not take a single prisoner anymore."
He was responding to a recording, suspected by many to be fake, allegedly of #Ukraine military discussing how they killed a captured wounded Wagner soldier.
The headline from today's update from #Ukraine's General Staff is that #Russia suffered heavy losses in #Avdiivka.
Kyiv claims the invaders tried unsucessfully to advance.
Ukraine also says "heavy battles are on-going for the city of #Bakhmut."
Neither claim can be verified
Please allow me to say a few thank yous for coffees received this afternoon.
@p_o_funke, My scientific friend from USA and here EODmo bought me a virtual cuppa!
Love and peace to you all💙💛
#Russia's state news agency reports the mystery disappearance of three diplomats in a pleasure boat in the Red Sea.
My first thought is they're fleeing something and faking death. Why was the ID tracking switched off?
A couple of people alerted me to the fact that I have started appearing in searches again today.
Surely not unconnected is the fact I have more new followers today then in the past 10 days combined.
Thanks to everyone who retweets, replies and likes to beat Twitter's algorithm!
Suspicious?
The deaths of two MPs in #Russia has been announced on the same day.
56 year old Dzhasharbek Uzdenov had reportedly been ill for a long time, while Nikolai Bortsov who was 77 has also died. Both were from the majority "United Russia" party.
A Ukrainian oligarch who's under investigation for helping #Russia, has turned up in #Switzerland after managing to flee the country.
Vadim Novinsky, who's also suspected of fraud, now masquerades as a deacon at the Russian Orthodox Church in #Zurich.
I'm delighted to say that 4 years after losing half a leg when stepping on a landmine, Roman typified the #Ukraine spirit and completed the London Marathon today.
1/2 This morning, not just Kyiv badly attacked.
In fact, at the moment, more people are known to have died in Dnipro then the capital and that's where I'll start.
5 killed and 25 injured there plus 3 more wounded in Kamianske in the wider region.
Hello again.
Day 1552. A holiday in many countries "Whit Monday" in most, Spring holiday in others (inc UK) and Memorial Day in the U.S
But after 4 years and 3 months, memorials are still being made in Ukraine because our leaders, collectively, let them down.
Here's the daily🧵
I'm still not quite sure where Saturday ended and Sunday began - the days merged into one for me.
What I do know is there were >120 new posts over the 48 hours, that's an average one story every 24 minutes, over the entire two days.
1/2 There are new murderous attacks by Russia already today in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Explosions have been heard in the city of Dnipro after an alert for ballistic missiles. Smoke can be seen, but no initial news of widespread damage, so hopefully air defence did its job.
Here we go again then. Day 1550 of Ukrainians wondering if they, their home, their relatives, will be bombed today.
About 16 million people have been born in the US and 15m in the EU since Russia started its full invasion of Ukraine.
Welcome to Saturday's daily🧵
Friday was a cracking thread, with vodka cheaper than a single tomato, legless Russians celebrating, Moscow claiming a college in occupied Luhansk wasn't housing Rubicon pilots and their drones and Ukraine causing more mayhem deep inside Russia.
#UkraineSanctions have been successfully employed again!
Lots of action in Russia last night, even before I closed the thread. Around 8am this morning another Ukraine strike in Perm' region, a distance of about 1700km.
Putin's gone from the expected capture of Kyiv before the end of Feb 2022 & annihilation of Ukraine's leaders & the country's culture, to begging China to keep it afloat & trying to quell dissenters at home as bombs fall!
The daily🧵
A quick reminder, everything I do is free. No extra content behind paywalls or subscriptions.
Every single day, documenting everything important about the war and about Ukraine. Still never missed a day. If you are able to support here's the link:
Wednesday 20 May is Day 1547 of Putin's catastrophic full invasion of its peaceful neighbour.
Russia has lost a large part of a generation of men - dead, dying or those who managed to emigrate. Reserves spent, economy collapsing.
Putin, not Zelenskyy, is Russia's biggest enemy
Let's start the daily thread in the traditional manner with the link for the start of Tuesday's thread.
A lot more destruction on both sides, as Putin grovels in China. Click, but remember to come back for today's news...
Welcome to THE daily thread on Day 1546 of the war.
Russia is showing small signs of desperation.
More economic woes, more Ukraine air attacks deep inside Russia, a desperation to strengthen ties with allies and having to make new nuclear threats.
All the news in one place:
Here's the link back to the start of Monday's thread for those catching up.
A day when Russia lost more equipment, including a helicopter, but also bombed the hell out of Dnipro, while the EU looks for a lead negotiator to meet Putin.
One thing I learned last night I'll repost here as very few people saw it last night, and for Ukraine watchers it's very interesting and potentially important.
Will Zelenskyi dare fire Zaluzhnyi so he has no platform in the run up to an election?
