#Kyiv - at the end of yesterday's thread, just before midnight UK time, I showed video of a car on fire after drone wreckage fell on it after being shot down.
Now Mayor of the capital, @Vitaliy_Klychko has confirmed there are injuries, four in total in two different incidents.
Two of the injured in #Kyiv have been hospitalised.
Another explosion is reported in the capital now too.
And why do some western allies think it's fine for #Russia to bomb the crap out of #Ukraine, its infrastructure and its people, and yet say Ukraine must not hit targets in Russia?
City officials confirm what I wrote earlier that "Kh-22 rockets were directed at warehouses" on the Black Sea Coast. #Ukraine says it belonged to a food enterprise, #Russia says it was a weapons/ammo store.
No word on casualties yet.
Tochka-U missiles believed to be being fired at #Zaporizhzhia from the Occupied areas.
The situation does not look good in #Donetsk where #Wagner and elite troops of #Russia's regular army are making a last ditch bid to capture more of the region before tomorrow's Victory Day "celebrations"
This is interesting. Andrey Kovalev is Chairman of the "All-Russian Movement of Entrepreneurs"
Basically a semi-political movement lobbying for business interests in #Russia. He must have deleted this post as it went to far. He was in favour of the war.
#Russia say it hit #Ukraine's soldiers and warehouses (storage) in #Orikhiv.
That's a front-line town in #Zaporizhzhia region.
No comment from Ukraine yet.
The local authority in #Kyiv gave a few more details, explaining in the central district one fire was caused when drone debris damaged a gas pipe. The problem's now been fixed with no interruption to supplies.
Time for sleep!
I've just had a lovely anonymous donation.
Thank you "B" and I think you're right, I am likely to be busy in the next few weeks. 💙💛
I'm not Ukrainian, but you can feel the anger of decades, indeed a century of oppression, lies and murder of #Ukraine's people in this excellent thread.
This is the last tweet in Anna's thread and please do watch this if you can.
Today's figures released by #Ukraine show a fall in equipment losses for #Russia in the last 24 hours.
8 MLRS and 4 Special pieces are the only categories above the daily average for equipment, and though Occupiers' troops deaths are lower, 540 is still above the mean.
The graphic says it all, a 100% success rate for #Ukraine's air defenders aiming to hit drones in the overnight attack.
It's now known that 35 "Shahed" killer drones were fired by #Russia towards the capital #Kyiv, and all 35 were hit. #SlavaUkraini
1/2 In addition to the drones in #Kyiv, there were more serious missiles fired at #Odesa.
#Russia attacked #Odessa from Tu-22 long-range bombers, firing 8 cruise missiles from over #Crimea. They say some missiles didn't reach their targets.
The fire service released this video
2/2 Officials in #Odesa release few other details.
The fire was at the food factory; #Russia says it stored weapons, which may be true. I do know one guard died here.
There were 2 other landing sites which #Ukraine describes only as "the recreation area on the Black Sea coast."
Another interesting event in #Odesa (RU: #Odessa) this morning was the first sighting of the Mayor since his latest release on bail after arrest by anti-corruption officers.
Trukhanov laid flowers at the WWII monument to the unknown sailor, where the Eternal Flame burns.
Still in #Odesa, there's criticism at the lack of info regarding the other missile landings, but it's likely sensitive information.
It seems one Kh-22 hit #Dachne just outside the city. Journalists point out that in 2017 news stories were made about the new military accomm there
In the capital #Kyiv, it's confirmed that 5 people were injured during the drone attack by #Russia.
Two appear to be more seriously hurt.
Here's video released by #Ukraine of the building in the city which was badly damaged by falling debris.
President Zelenskyy has ruled that in future years in #Ukraine, the symbolic 9 May will be "Europe Day" and no longer a day for honouring the fallen in WWII.
Instead, in another shift west, 8 May will be the day of remembrance and Victory over Nazism, to align with Euro partners
One of the critically injured in last week's massacre in #Kherson has died.
The death of the woman brings the total murdered byu #Russia that day to 24.
The Mayor of #Kyiv has published some more photos from the site of the worst damage from what he says was the biggest attack on the capital since the start of the war.
@Vitaliy_Klychko confirms two casualties are in hospital, one was operated on but no lives are in danger.
In #Odesa, officials confirm the death of a man whose body was found under rubble at the bombing site.
They also say three other people were injured in the missile attack.
Here's the daily briefing from #London looking again at the recruitment problems for #Russia.
I can also point out that these huge salaries are usually a con. For example in #Chechnya, warlord Kadyrov charges recruits for almost all their equipment, making a nice % himself!
1/ A small🧵within a🧵now on the catastrophic fires in #Russia.
You'd think a place with the name #Asbest would be better equipped than most to deal with fire - and yes the town is named because of the asbestos industry.
But here too there's chaos and tears.
2/ While I understand the awful situation for some in #Russia, when I see quotes like this (in E1 news) maybe they should think of #Ukraine
"In the city of grief, how can you not cry here. Everything is on fire, no water, no light. It's never been so bad. What will happen next?"

Welcome along to the daily thread for Day 440 of the war in #Ukraine
More deadly missile attacks launched in the early hours this morning by #Russia on what is supposed to be one of the sacred days in the calendar, 9 May. #Russia has no victory to celebrate.
All the news here⬇️
It was another busy day yesterday, a lot of news from the battlefields of #Ukraine and beyond too.
For a catch up on anything you missed on Monday, click and scroll down from this link:
Sunday is Day 438 of #Russia's catastrophic full invasion of #Ukraine
Each day you've been able to find all the news of Europe's war in one place with these daily threads.
It's all free, but if you can support what I do with a coffee I'd be very grateful ko-fi.com/twmcltd
I forgot this yesterday (thanks Dave for remembering!) so let's do this straightaway!
As I post so much, people couldn't find the start of the previous day's thread, which they found handy to review what they missed. So here's the start of Saturday's feed
#Ukraine was attacked last night. Here's a summary:
#Dnipropetrovsk region - again huge artillery fire on #Nikopol with one dead and 3 injured. #Mykolaiv region - a ballistic missile hit "an industrial enterprise" #Kyiv - a reconnaissance drone was shot down in the region.
If you are citizen of the Commonwealth, Happy Coronation Day, or if you're a Republican, just enjoy the weekend😅
This is the daily thread for Saturday with all the news in one thread, updated throughout the day.
Let's start in occupied #Crimea, where chat sites make pleasant reading this morning:
08:04 "A loud bang was heard in the #Krasnogvardeyskoye district"
08:05 "a good roar sounded. Dzhankoy-Krasnogvardeyskoye"
08:05 "strong 'cotton' in Krasnogvardeyskoye."
Here's what was seen
#Russia's Occupiers on #Crimea insist air defence worked in the north of Crimea "there were no casualties or destruction"
Oh but then the Kerch Bridge was unexpectedly closed. Guards told these people "threat of an attack" but later authorities say it's "for technical reasons"🤡
The UK's daily intel report inspects the rails of #Russia after the spate of sabotage attacks recently. These attacks far more believable than the pantomime drone strike on the Kremlin.
Some breaking news, we are learning about repeated explosions in #Zaporizhzhia this morning.
S-300 anti aircraft missiles again being used by #Russia to attack civilians, but monitoring groups say one exploded just after launch, before it crossed the frontline.
It's noisy.
The weather has improved in #Ukraine. But though the ground may be drying out a little on the frontline, conditions are still incredibly tough.
An early start to Wednesday's daily thread because Ukraine is under attack again.
All the news, all day in one handy thread.
See link in my bio if you want to buy me a coffee💙💛
There was so much news on Tuesday.
You can review or catch up on what you missed right here, with the start of yesterday's thread, with stories about another train sabotage in #Russia, more fires, and how the man who killed Litvinenko in London suffers..
