I'd like to offer a piece of advice for freelancers that I promise will instantly make you 1000x more desirable to clients (1/12)
It's so simple: do what you say you'll do, and always tell your client if/when your work won't be ready at the time you agreed upon (2/12)
There are so many freelancers who just fail to meet deadlines and then never message me about it, never acknowledge it (3/12)
And I get why! It's really really scary to have to tell someone that you can't get the work done! It feels like failure. (4/12)
But. All you do is send me a message and say “I know we agreed to this time, I cant do it, can I get it to you at this time instead?” (5/12)
If you send me that one message, instantly you are the top of my list of people I want to hire. NOBODY DOES THIS. (6/12)
Literally, you send me that one message, you have just differentiated yourself from 99.9% of people doing the exact same job (7/12)
Same goes for deadlines that aren't 100% explicit. “Hey it's been a week since we last talked, when would you like to see my work?” (8/12)
I've just become used to freelancers not telling me when things are going wrong, not keeping me updated on the state of things. Ugh. (9/12)
It's funny how nothing communicates strength like acknowledging and being accountable for your weaknesses (10/12)
I'm starting to only want to work with people who can do this, who tell me what's happening so I don't have to guess (11/12)
