just because something gets published does not mean it is 'right' or 'good'. It means it has passed some minimum litmus test of 'quality' to become part of a conversation.
bad, wrong, poorly conceived, and faddish things are published all the time in different disciplines. In the best scenario, a poor paper inspires a more rigorous response and knowledge is advanced

Many of the complaints were similar to last year's demands that we stay unpolitical or face unfollowing.

Why I love John Carpenter's The Thing:
While H.P. Lovecraft had a very brilliant mind for horror, he had a very limited capacity for writing.

The Thing is perhaps the purest distillation of Lovecraftian themes, really making them reach their full potential. There are a number of reasons for this.
The Thing subsumes a person's very individuality for its own use. It is a perversion of natural life, using body parts such as teeth in very grotesque ways.

Ex: the flower petal that comes out of Dog-Thing is a bunch of dog tongues, the teeth aligned like in a dog's jaw

And like any examination of the unconscious you will see things on Twitter that fascinate you and things that disgust you. This is part of its attraction: the filters of discourse become permeable, allowing the unsayable to leak across.
