"comic critics are bad"

which ones

"these comic critics are making things dangerous"

which ones

"comic critics-"

which. ones.
like i'm gonna be fucking straight up here not only can nobody engage honestly with creators talking about critics w/out specifics...
...but in regards to comic critics making things "dangerous" we really need to get serious and specific because that's a lot to toss out.
i would also say we need to get specific bc video games has to deal with FAR MORE and FAR BIGGER problems, and i'd like for comics to: not
video games has multiple people with thousands, MILLIONS of subscribers, who engage in harassment and actively threatening people
if you say critics are making comics dangerous, well then shit motherfucker, let's talk turkey, because i take that seriously.
who? how are they doing it? how are they making the field dangerous? none of us have the fraction of the pull of a mid-level LPer.
and i'd think if there's any critic actually creating a dangerous climate, we could shut them down pretty damn easily among our peers.
unless, of course, it's like the specific reactionary tools who intentionally use old channer tactics to harass minorities specifically
bc they don't fucking listen to anybody. but if it's a CBR person? av club? newsarama? WWAC? i'm pretty sure we could shut 'em down.
unless, of course, there aren't actually any comic critics of any note in the field that are making the field dangerous.
straight up: i have *far* more followers than the average CBR/Newsarama/AV club/WWAC contributor. i don't publish regular crit.
i don't publish pieces at these outlets, and i write entirely too long pieces to do so. but i do get mad online a lot!
if getting mad online contributes to this shit? i'll dial it back! i have no tolerance for people sending death threats and shit.
but the fact is if we wanna talk *influence* in the field of comics, i'm waaaaaay bigger just from follower count than the average reviewer
so like if i'm stepping all over everybody else without even writing regular reviews for CBR or whatever...

how big could they be?
this idea that they're making things dangerous, well, you better provide evidence, and let's check out their influence.
cuz nine times out of ten, my rando ass is gonna be bigger than any comic critic that actually does it as a job.
if there's critics making comics dangerous? let's talk about it! let's get serious! i really think we could deal with whoever it is!
but odds are, it's absolutely fucking nobody of note! and the people who have most to actually fear in comics are minorities!
to my knowledge, nobody at the major comic sites - CBR, WWAC, AV Club, etc - have been inflaming reactionary channer attitudes.
but they are easily the ones making the most threats and pose the most actual threat to people in comics, esp most vulnerable.
if it's youtube critics? sorry, bud, but most of those have nooooooo shared community with comic critics who do their work in text.
and that's a whoooole different field and community we need to talk about, and even different strategies to talk about them.
and that's not even getting into the stupid "here's how critics should write for ME the creator" shit. pay us if you want that.
