I've been accumulating some #books for my #2022 #reading.
A thread! 🧵🧵🧵

Here's some of my selections:
“COVID-19: The Great Reset,” by Klaus #Schwaub – I need to know what he and that rascal #Soros are up to. This book was fully written and published by June 2020. I am nearly convinced these #Communist narratives and #COVID are manufactured by about 5-10 individuals.
“Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World,” by David Epstein

All the books (50 books) I read this year and a one-line review on them!

A Mega thread!

My last thread for 2021 🧵

#Books #Reading

Let's get started 👇

A few years back, I used to read articles which used to say a CEO read 40 books this year and I always thought how?
It's all about consistently reading a few pages every day!

2020- I read 15-25 pages(not every day) - I read 34 books in 2020

2021- I read 25-35 pages every night before sleeping and 100-150 pages every weekend

Ok, now let’s go through those 50 books 👇

Shoe Dog by Phil Knight

Nike started off by importing high-quality, low-cost running shoes from Japan

What’s shocking is the number of times the business came to an end but came out stronger every time!

Never Giving up – The one key lesson from the book!{{ img:6c137d }}

Pain Coaching is the approach I devised to help people who suffer persistent #pain.

What do I help them do?

Reconnect with what matters.

In so doing, their life improves.

To keep developing, I have daily practices.

Here they are: a #thread.

1. Reading practice

Daily reading.

Some factual, some development, some fiction.

I take notes.

I read slowly.

Here are some great tips from @RyanHoliday

2. Daily exercise.

You choose what this looks like.

I choose running, 5 x a week.

I have a programme designed by @Ultra_Damo

The other days I walk.

I also practice different movements and exercises through the day.

So can you.

Reduced reading span is a hazard for knowledge seekers. We gotta fix it right away. Here’s my thoughts and story. 👇🧵
RIL (Read It Later) has cut short our reading-span and we became skip-junkies. We are loosing out on knowledge and have become merely good-content-collectors, that’s all.
A page in a book was earmarked to indicate “read again later” to gain different/more perspective, be motivated again.

Better Together: Why the govt's plans to crack down on Big Tech mergers and acquisitions will hurt competition and UK startups.…
The govt is considering new rules to allow the CMA to more easily stop companies like Google, Facebook, Amazon and Apple from buying smaller ones. This is part of a wider set of reforms to regulate these companies the govt is considering.…
These proposals are meant to strengthen competition.

But by making "exit" harder for startups, and curbing platforms' ability to use M&A to move into new markets and compete there, the plans risk making the UK's tech sector *less* competitive.

It's a great tale - It also links to some seriously questionable characters...

The link is #AlanJohnFrankHitchins

#Portsmouth & #AstonVilla fans may have seen his name before.

Think mining scams, laundering money via offshore & criminal networks…
Mining scams can be a brilliant way to con investors (pump & dump) and because of their erratic revenue streams & international make-up, they can be great vehicles to launder money through.

Maybe if you've just robbed a bank and need a getaway vehicle 💸…

Building Expertise

Even if you are someone who dabbles in multiple topics, you can still build expertise.

Find HOW from the following threads🧵
1/ If you have multiple interests, it means you are more curious than others.

In fact, I had to go past 200 books to understand my keen interest in (cognitive + behavioral) psychology, neuroscience, and philosophy.

And mind you, I’m an economist by training.

So Have Patience!
2/ If you are still struggling to pick a topic, then choose a topic based on something you already find fascinating and love to learn.

For instance, if your bookshelf is filled with leadership & Development books, then there lies the hint.

15 Effective Ways Clever People Handle Toxic People

1. They ignore attention seekers

Often toxic people compulsively seek attention at all costs. If this is the case, the best course of action is to pay little or no attention to that person, and instead spend more time with the quieter and more reserved members of the group.
2. They do not trust or share secrets with gossipers

They will share deep secrets with people and they will frequently judge or gossip about people behind their backs. It’s a divisive and manipulative method of gaining friends or power in a social group. Do not take the bait.

In-house editor @whatallydid shares a book recommendation, just in time for the weekend. If you’ve been looking for something immersive, look no further. #reading #fantasy #nkjemisin #bookrecco
@whatallydid says: "I was late to the N.K Jemisin phenomena, but I'm almost grateful that I didn't discover her before. Because her Broken Earth series got me through the first few terrible weeks of lockdown."
I don't want to give away too much of the plot because it's SO interesting. But at the time, the world seemed to be spinning off its axis and in Jemisin's books, we learn what happens after the world ends. Again. And again. And again.
