Thing is: if you wanted to be (extremely) nice to an old lady, this is the wrong damn Brittannia. Let me explain: 1/
Her great-grandfather and grandfather had the last Britannia, a famous gem of a racing yacht. Amazing piece of kit, a true classic. 2/
Her grandfather loved it so much he refused to leave it to his wastrel son Edward VIII. So, after George V died, Brittania was sunk. 3/
There is a project to build a restoration of it, as a charitable institution and use it for sail training. 4/
The UK has a genuinely world-class marine/sailing industry. That'll need support post-Brexit. That restoration could be a showcase. 5/
Plus: you'd get a sail-training vessel out of it, and a decent charitable return, much cheaper. 6/
So if you did want to do it (God knows why) finish this and let her have a sail on her grandad's boat. k1britannia.org/programmes/res… 7/
She's 91, mind, and Phil (who used sail) is older, so God knows what use they'd get of any boat. But at least Liam Fox wouldn't get a toy. 8
