As Leo and Simon noted last night, she gave her word on NI, and when push came to shove, when there was going to be a real cost to her, she has stood by it.

Rather than keep HMG’s word and face facts, they’d prefer the madness of No Deal that would literally cost lives - probably on the Border, unquestionably through medicine shortages - to save their ideological blushes.

So, while I am not and will never be a fan of May, I will at least say she can pass the John Pullin test: “We're not much good but at least we turned up.”
