Some people are questioning the yearbook that Beverly Young Nelson showed at her press conference yesterday. Here's what I know about that particular yearbook.
First of all, when Beverly Young Nelson said she was working at Gadsden Olde Hickory House in December 1977, she said she was then a student at Gadsden High School. Here's a picture of her from the 1978 GHS yearbook:
From 1975 through the summer of 1977, she attended Southside High School, which is also in Etowah County, Alabama, just over the Coosa River. This is her picture among the sophomores:
This is the copy of that yearbook that is on file at the Southside Public Library. I looked through it yesterday. It came out for the class of 1977, who graduated that summer.
That same sophomore class also has a picture of Moore's future wife, Kayla Kisor:
In her statement yesterday, Beverly Young Nelson said, "I turned 16 on Nov. 14, 1977. About a month later I received my yearbook from Southside High School .... I happened to bring my yearbook to work with me to the restaurant on Dec. 22, 1977."
She goes on to say that Moore signed the book, in this image from the New York Times story with her statement:
Notice the bottom portion of that image, because you'll see that it's the facade of Gadsden's old Goodyear building. Here's an image of the same page from the yearbook I saw yesterday:
