I want to address something @campaignforleo did on #rtenews last night. It’s something that if not noted and stopped will be dangerous to political debate here. I’m talking about his vile attempts to smear concerns with hyperbole.
He began by saying he didn’t want to see @FitzgeraldFrncs “decapitated”.
This went unchallenged and therefore deemed an acceptable term for what are genuine concerns about the Tanaiste’s capabilities to do her job.

He then used the words execution and public hanging. These also went unchallenged. This is the very language Leo claimed to abhor about social media. But here he was on the National Broadcaster using these vile terms.
He then went on to add that he wouldn’t throw the Tanaiste under the bus. Again, unchallenged.
These are the terms used by the defenders of George Hook, Kevin Myers et al. And that our Taoiseach did this is disgraceful.

This is a threat to the accountability of our politicians and an attempt by (hard right) elements to silence debate. RTE might not have addressed it last night. But we need to call it as it is. A social media Taoiseach, trolling democracy. Ends
