Going to take this opportunity to talk bout Jesus. As a Muslim. Pass it on to your nearest Islamophobic friend, neighbor, or relative
Jesus is mentioned in the Qur'an, the holy scripture of Muslims, 25 times. Muhammad is only mentioned 5 times by name. There is entire chapter about Jesus and his mother, Mary. The chapter is called "Mary". Like, literally.
Muslims believe in the virgin birth of Jesus. In the Islamic tradition, God said "Be", and Jesus was. The angel Gabriel announced it to Mary, who was reasonably worried and stressed at having a baby and what people would say.
The Qur'an says not only did Jesus heal the sick and bring the dead back to life, but also that he spoke from the cradle as a newborn to defend his mother from the slander about her
Muslims believe Jesus is one of the five major prophets of God, though hundreds of thousands of messengers guiding people to be good have been sent through history: Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad are the five.
The theological difference is in the status of Jesus: we don't worship him as Divine. We believe he was a man like other Prophets. But we do believe he is the messiah and will return in the Second Coming.
As I mentioned before, we love us some Mary (Maryam). She is only woman in the faith tradition who was known to have communicated with Gabriel, a prophetic trait, so some say she may have been a prophet too.
Muhammad said he was the last brick in the wall of prophets built by God. We are commanded to revere and respect them all. Rejecting a single one means you aren't Muslim anymore. Given the close relationship Muslims have with Jesus it's remarkable how some Christians reject us
And call Islam a demonic religion. I mean, I don't think Satan would want us loving Jesus and Moses and worshipping one God and giving charity and fasting and LITERALLY PRAYING IN EVERY PRAYER for God to protect us from Satan, but you do you.
Yes there are some fundamental theological differences in Islam and Christianity, but we'd be Christians if there weren't. The response to "believing Jesus is messenger of God is integral to our faith" should not be "Islam is a demonic religion". That's pretty extreme.
Anyway this was not to be a kumbaya post, just an FYI one to inform my dear Tweeps that Muslims are all about Jesus too. Peace out.
