I'm deeply skeptical about this sudden North Korean rapprochement as the South Korean Olympics near. Paranoid dictator of a gulag state threatens with nukes and missiles & now wants to play nice guy to get what he wants. cnn.com/2018/01/13/asi…
Rewarding the despot with the public acclaim and photo-ops he craves at an Olympics, sounds familiar! Kim Jong-un doesn't care about reunification, only about staying in power, just like every other dictator.
Remember when Putin released Khodorkovsky and tried to downplay Russian anti-LGBTQ laws right before the Sochi Olympics? He wanted his Berlin 36 moment too, the world's attention and acclaim.
Putin cracked down harder than ever before the last NBC film crew even left Sochi. A few days later, newly confident, he invaded Ukraine. Concessions to dictators always produce aggression.
The only foreign leader Putin praised in his press conference the other day was Kim Jong-un. Dictators stick together. He didn't mention the oil & missile tech Russia provides NK, of course. Putin always pressing for instability.

A few things to listen for tonight. 1) The words "crisis," "threat," "emergency," & "enemies" without evidence or on "secret" evidence. 2) Framing Trump's base as victims of these threats. 3) Blaming predecessors & opponents for not dealing with the threats, or for causing them.
4) Attacking media for not blindly repeating his narrative. Saying "the fake news will tell you.." 5) Blaming shutdown & "crisis" on others while positioning himself as the only one who can fix it. (If you enter a debate about solutions, you have accepted there is a crisis.)
Of course, these things would also be said if there were a real crisis! So how to determine the difference? 1) Why now, & not during 2 years of GOP control? Can't blame Dem obstruction. 2) Emergency powers are for emergencies. Does he make a real case for desperate measures?

Trump's foreign policy is almost the same Obama's but with a much worse PR department & with a critical press. It's saying "Go to Hell!" and hoping Hell doesn't reach you before you leave office.
I think Obama sincerely believed the US retreat would lead to peace. Many of us said he was wrong and he was. Trump is much worse because we know the results already. The slaughter & chaos are here, the thugs and dictators are advancing.
Trump's betrayals are for his interests alone. He aligns the US with authoritarians because it suits him. He spreads the virus of illiberalism, which is more contagious & deadly than right or left ideology.

Glocom was caught shipping military equipment to Eritrea back in 2016, and investigated by the United Nations. un.org/ga/search/view…

So the mainstream media has pushed North Korean propaganda including coverage of the head of Nork propaganda. What does that say about who controls the “narrative” (propaganda) of MSM. It’s the same people that really control North Korea.
MSM switches in waves of propaganda between the sky is falling to NK fawning. Hoping the public will not put together the totality of the way NK is used to yank the chain of the masses for increased military/surveillance budgets (always a good rocket launch right before).
We hear contradictory info all the time... NK is 10 years from nuke... NK already has it. Can’t reach US. Already can.

This is what propaganda looks like... changing narratives to suit the news of the day. Trump comes in and suddenly Rocket Man is shooting rockets frequently.
