My daughter was trying to roughhouse with me and got knocked off the couch. She hit the floor pretty hard and when she got up she was about to scream like crazy, I saw it in her eyes, tearing up ready to burst. I looked right at her & said calmly, come over here, lets take a look
The tears dried up immediately, she wasn't hurt aside from a bit of pain from hitting the floor, and started smiling within a couple minutes.
A little humor and showing her that she wasn't hurt all that bad, stopped her mind from going into a frenzy.
