1) I already went through pregnancy/new momhood once as an employee and it kind of sucked. Now seeing it again as an employER is enlightening because it's actually pretty hard for companies to do the right thing.
2) I wrote up a blog post about how to build a lactation room on a budget because I found absolutely no resources out there or solutions that our company could afford. We had to get creative and it took time to figure it all out. blog.winnie.com/building-a-lac…
3) Even implementing paid leave benefits as an employer is hard because no one has designed tools for this use case
4) And of course new parents need childcare to return to work. It's hard to find and most employers don't know how to help. That is why winnie.com/childcare is such an important part of the work we do at Winnie. Employers, you can share this resource with your working parents!
5) We lived with this shit for so long because the people at the top had no reason to change the system. It worked for them. Thank god more founders, CEOs, executives, and venture capitalists are starting to look like this. Change is coming and I'm proud to play a small part.
