Consensus thoughts tweetstorm

1) Consensus had some of the best parts of this industry and the worst. It was amazing to have one place have so many people I've interacted with over so many years get to finally meet, or reunite with. There is so much good going on.
2) Meeting in person, even with people who are easy to be keyboard warriors against can help bury the hatchet (I got @Truthcoin to unblock me). There was also an opportunity to meet many others that contribute and start new relationships. A+ on networking side.
3) Most of these happened away from main consensus events or at after parties. The conference itself was an incredible amount of noise. The demo floor was full of dumb and useless projects, combined with scams. Was pleased to see bitcoin dot com booth empty constantly.
4) The amount of sheer dumb ideas from hopeless people who wish to decentralize everything to Glassholes who think sound money is a bad idea along with the size makes me think things will get very painful in the next few years. This may bleed into Bitcoin.
5) @JimmySong was an absolute boss on stage. Ever since 2X failed and he started wearing that hat, he's turned into a new man and an absolute powerhouse in the industry. His call that most of this is buzzword junk is dead on, and I expect him to eventually be proven right.
6) It's unclear how long this bubble will work. It's also unclear how much collateral damage there will be. It could get quite ugly. But eventually the lack of results will drive money to the next fad beyond the ICO/token/DAPP mania we have today.
7) The only session I did see all of was @jack and @starkness. Jack is incredibly inspiring, and knowing his background following this tech for 20+ years, and his personal involvement in Bitcoin along with his influence is one of the most positive things I've seen in 7 years.
8) Jack not only has a tremendous amount of influence, but he ACTUALLY gets it, and talks to the right people. He has a track record of completely disrupting industries. I can think of no bigger ally for cypherpunks today.
9) The most fun of the whole time was Dragon Energy Night. Thanks to @blockstream and @ChaincodeLabs for putting on an awesome event. My only regret is not having more time to talk to every single attendee there.
10) The contrast between D.E.N. and other parties was immense. There were no gimimcks, no fancy yachts, no Snoop Dogg, no stupid bracelets. The guest list was absolutely top notch. Some of the other events were just downright cringeworthy.
11) It would be awesome if someone could capture the good parts of consensus without the bad, and without the high price tag. Uncensus would be an amazing event and needs to be seriously looked at as a parallel conference. Let's make this happen in 2018.
12) I'm incredibly thankful to be part of such an amazing community. Thanks to all the developers who make this happen, and to all their supporters who help make Bitcoin what it is today.
