The experience he’d been offered was thousands of years old. Practiced by indigenous tribes. Everyone I know who’d done it was better for it.
Instead, you smoke the resin. It’s a form of DMT. Some call it, the Spirit Molecule.
If you believe in more, then perhaps it’s your brain releasing you to the other side.
Either way, it’s one heck of a ride.
He’d seen the effect it’d had on friends. All for the better.
“But it’s a drug,” he said. “I don’t want to do drugs.”
He asked me if he should do it.
In fact, lemme bare it all. So you understand that I speak from experience.
I’ve known drugs. And they’ve known me.
At a point in my life, I was on a mission to destroy myself. But I was too much of a coward to face it directly.
Here’s what I know about drugs.
There are things we call drugs that are drugs. They contract your Spirit.
They destroy you.
When you’re on meth, you don’t give a f**k. About anything. Including yourself. Especially yourself.
You’d walk in front of a truck and not care.
But for the grace of God, here am I.
Alcohol, painkillers. A chunk of what is prescribed legally. Drugs, all.
Drugs destroy lives.
But....
There are things we call drugs that have no business in that camp.
They save lives. Literally.
Ahyuasca, Iboga, peyote, mushrooms, the above-mentioned toad...
Medicine. Teachers. Healers. Grandfathers. Grandmothers.
They expand your Spirit.
You get to experience the consequences of your choices. The affect they’ve had on others.
Not easy.
Three. Days.
No withdrawal.
And it lasts.
I repeat. Heroin addicts. Free from addiction. After three days. No withdrawal symptoms.
Beat that, pharma.
Yet, most have to do this in hiding.
Yet, every expander I’ve mentioned is considered illegal.
There is profit in addiction. There is no profit in healing.
But it’s not that simple.
It’s easier to blame than to fix.
Let’s focus on fixing this so those who need expanders will have access to them.
Yup.
But loving himself transformed his life.
All true.
Then why do these?
Because when you love yourself, you’ll do everything you believe will make you better.
And yes, I am better for it.
Nope.
But he listened to my definition of what contracts and what expands and I’m grateful for his open-mindedness. I respect anyone who stays true to their path.
Honestly, I’m scared of putting this out there. I will be judged.
But a follow-up conversation with my friend reminded me that there are those who do need help. Who do not have the benefit of the life that he does.
I owe it to them to share this.
