.@ShankarAnoushka is standing with the #Indigenous people of #India. They’re fighting devastating coal mining that’ll:

😵 Destroy thousands of Adivasi (Indigenous) people’s lives
🌳 Obliterate vast swathes of their forest home
⚒️ Dig up millions of tonnes of coal

1/3 Until these mines are cancelled and their rights recognized, their fight goes on.

Will you stand with them to #SaveHasdeo?

In case you missed it, last week was the #OurLandOurNature alternative congress, which finished on Friday with a #protest in Marseille, France, where we were joined by a number of other orgs including @xrFrance, @amisdelaterre & @yfcmarseille.

#OnThisDay in 1906, #OtaBenga was put on display with the monkeys at the @BronxZoo. The zoo is owned by @TheWCS. Ota Benga committed suicide 10 years later.

1/5 The WCS President Cristian Samper has apologized for the treatment of Ota Benga & the extreme #racism of the organization's founders – only 115 years too late. He challenged the WCS to “do better” and to “never look away whenever and wherever injustice occurs.”

⚠️#Uncontacted tribe in danger ⚠️

On the Brazil-Peru border, a group of indig ppl have approached a Manchineri village, in the Mamoadate Indig Territory in BR. The Manchineri say the group are members of the uncontacted Mashco Piro tribe.

🏹 Take action: svlint.org/uncontactedlet… As in many such cases, it could be that the #uncontacted Indians are fleeing the pressure of invaders on their land.
