Wow Jolyon Maugham wants to keep the #ToriesOut by supporting the Green candidate in #Stroud take a look at the 2017 result bit.ly/2LyiXbI Now think about this! Maugham is an advisor for a #Tory Think Tank Bright Blue bit.ly/2roWgQp
Scroll down the list of names and you find Matthew Elliott the Former Chief Executive of Vote Leave! Molly Scott Cato might be a principled person but why support a party that only achieved 2% of the vote? A slight increase in that vote could give #Stroud a #Tory #VoteLabour
Is it possible that a remain supporter who advises a Tory Think Tank is trying to split the vote in #Stroud in favour of a #Tory Is that not a question Journalists should be asking? #VoteLabour #JC4PM2019 @RespectIsVital @shaunjlawson @silverrich39 @threadreaderapp "Unroll"

A Christmas ode to Toryism:

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the nation,
There was misery, poverty and great deprivation
Some stockings were empty, some fridges were bare,
The heating turned off, little money to spare.
Boris Johnson was cosy, a quaffing champagne,
Cognac and Port so he’s feeling no pain,
Stuffing his chops on goose flesh and gammon,
Caviar, Stilton and the finest smoked salmon.
The homeless are shivering in cardboard containers
Ex-Servicemen, youngsters, both Leave and Remainers
The nurses and doctors all still searching for beds
With a shortage of staff, of money and meds.

For decades we've been offered a choice between frying pan and fire.

Not anymore.

Our manifesto is the most radical plan for Britain since 1945.

We have over 200 policies.

Over the next three weeks, we're getting through all of them.

Welcome to the Labour Policy Megathread.
Over the next three weeks (on the days that I'm not working), I'll be producing another part of the thread, and I'll let you all know.

I've had fun researching this.

Our policies are fantastic and I'm proud to be able to promote them.

Let's get to it. Policies 1-25 #ForTheMany
1. Abolish Tuition Fees

I campaigned against tuition fees back when I first started campaigning.

I remember how the Lib Dems sold students down the river.

And I'll remember how we abolished them entirely when we right that wrong.

My Twitter output will become dramatically different for a while after we've had a GE.

Regardless of whether we win or lose, that'll be the time that I hold a mirror up and highlight the mistakes we've made.

That'll be the time to regroup and become stronger once again.
I know how I preach focus regarding getting Labour into office. I stand by that. It is something that we can't spend another five years chasing.

I'll fight and fight for that outcome. And after the fact, there will be conversations to be had, respectfully, all across the left.
And at the end of the day, I'm one person with an opinion.

There is no question that there are issues where we haven't hit as hard as we should have. Or debates that we need to learn from and engage in more.

But I'll come to that. After the GE, which we must win.

"But Labour have no policies."

I've heard this statement recently on more than one occasion.

It's time to set the record straight. Welcome to the Labour Party policy megathread.
Before I get started, I want to quickly mention my reasons for writing up this thread. I can only speak for myself, but I've felt that my activism has been too reactionary recently. Responding to whatever story we're being hit with by the media and being distracted because of it.
I've started to consider the effects of this, and I've come to believe that we've lost sight of what a Labour government, under Corbyn, would truly mean for the United Kingdom.

We know getting rid of the Tories is good. But why is replacing them with Corbyn better?

#poll If there was a Snap General Election, who would you vote for?

(For other parties, please vote them in comments)

Please RT once Voted! πŸ˜ƒ
1997: Blair 13.5mn votes
1997-2015: Blairites/ Others lost 180 seats & 5mn voters
2017: Corbyn 12.8mn votes/ Gained 32

2019:

add first time voters (75% of those who vote, vote for Labour)

Subtract 2% of the population, 80% of whom vote Tories!

Labour Landslide on the cards!
Lab’s share of vote could be 14.5+mn

Once we take into account first time voters- 16 or under at 2017

first time voters -never voted before, disenchanted by Blair years whilst

removing Tory support -loss of voters due to old age

=> Lab will gain 100+ seats from Tories alone

THREAD: TMs Kamakazi End Game

She's the sacrificial lamb tasked w/ scaring parliament into either accepting a BRINO or relinquishing the gov of blame for a reversal of brexit (via the Cooper amendment).

They won't allow no-deal. It'd split the Tories & unlock socialism. 1/
They know theres only 2 ways to avoid no deal - bring down May w/ a GE or hold a rigged PV. They obvs want PV.

May had to promise to quit just to win a VoC. Tory party members r overwhelmingly leavers but Tory MPs r majority remain. They'll stop at nothing to steal the vote. 2/
Project Fear bombarded us w/ propaganda claiming ANY sort of brexit is armageddon.

JCs soft brexit CU plan is roughly equivalent to the EEA. Are Norway or Switzerland floundering? The remain obsessed establishment overplayed its hand. Their focus is to prevent a JC gov. 3/

THREAD: My journey into the polite, efficient belly of the beast @ BBC

I'd been asked to contribute a homemade video for #VictoriaLIVE a few months ago but it didn't get used.
This time they wanted me in the studio to talk #LabourSplit. It was a surreal experience. 1/
Phone interview night b4 w/ a nice man. Good Qs & I gave a good account of the left.

Why join Labour?
-socialisms back
Brexit?
-parliament stealing vote
-EU corrupt
-JCs CU has a majority
PV?
-no, many reasons
Split?
-to stop #JC4PM2019
Momentum?
-not since Pete Willsman
Etc 2/
I'd been waiting a few hours for that phonecall while at work. I missed one on silent & began to worry I'd missed the boat! Would they just go down a list of phone numbers & use whoever answered first?

When the call came it was a portal thrown open. 3/

Dear @jeremycorbyn
You have inspired this ex-Tory voter, not only to become interested in politics but also to become a passionate activist within the Labour Party.
Who knew, I was always a Socialist but didn't know it?

Brexit came from nearly 40 years of Tory governments, with a Tory lite respite, beating people down and keeping wealth amongst themselves.

It came from schools being picked apart and sold to the highest bidder. Now our education system is made up of academy's ran by businesses.
It came from making it harder to obtain further education, inflating tuition prices extortionately, and for those coming out the other side there's simply nothing to put that expensive degree to use.
It came from British industries being sold off to countries like China, leaving thousands of steel workers, automotive workers, factory's of various sizes, without work. Pushing them into a benefit system...

After 2.5 years of wanting to stop #brexit I have in theast half hour converted to the leftwing case for #Brexit as the best way to achieve a socialist future and set out my reasons in this thread #leavernow #lexiternow
It is clear to me that the EU is a corporate playground and neoliberal cabal one only needs 2 compare US and EU standards of animal welfare & food safety 2 see how true this is chlorinated chicken is the food of the Lexitariat #leavernow #lexiternow #Brexit #JC4PM2019
I believe that the evil EU has stopped the fraternalist tory party from implementing the Scandinavian social model as practised in Sweden Finland and Denmark and believe that they will pursue the doctrine of socialism in one percentile #Brexit #lexit #JC4PM2019

1/8 My favorite #quote by #JosephStalin, which explains the scientific, #DialecticalMaterialist explanation of true freedom in material reality, not just as an abstract ideal. #StalinIsBack #StalinLives #JVStalin #Stalin #StalinQuote #StalinQuotes #Truth #MELS #MarxismLeninism
2/8 Having an #objective, #rational, #ScientificSocialist, #Dialectical, & #Materialist viewpoint allows us to accurately see & evaluate & analyze #Truth & #Reality as they truly materially exist in this universe.
3/8 An idealistic, dogmatic viewpoint, which capitalists have, however, makes one irrational enough to 'see' freedom where freedom stays trapped on a piece of paper while people are oppressed in their actual lived lives.
