That’s how the average person can help. But what about the people in news media with power? They are silent #16DaysofActivism
Earlier this year I called on the most protected and powerful in journalism to speak out publicly for us—white men and white women—and most of them ignored me and refused. Yet these are the same ppl who will talk about #GBV on Dec 6 as though this isn’t ongoing in their backyard
These voices are those you see on Tv regularly. Many of those white men denied and discredited our experiences like a certain @CBCNews Parliamentary reporter who said that “the PM gets more hate”. I have yet to see any repudiation by management. JSP doesn’t exist for them

I'm loving @AnnamiePaul's resignation speech because she didn't shy away from the fact that the attacks against her have worn her down. That's true, that's real. This is real mental health shit #cdnpoli
The @canadiangreens kneecapped her then engaged in the gaslighting which is what many BIPOC experience in leadership positions. You can't window-dress and expect to solve everything
"Crawling over glass, spitting up blood". I love this. This is exactly what it feels like. She's being very real and I'm here for it. Canada needs to take a hard look at why it engages in so much #misogynoir and the Greens had better take a hard look at their racism

Wikipedia edit history shows how malicious a lot of the #MeghanMarkle hate is, and how much of it is about trying to shape the narrative about her via trolling and misinformation. A thread:
Evidence of disruptive editing and vandalism which began in earnest when #harryandmeghan 's relationship was announced. Archie's page gets it too after he's born screenshot of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor's wikipediscreenshot of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex's wikipedia page andscreenshot of Meghan Markle's wikipedia page before marriagescreenshot of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex wikipedia page with
A LOT of back & forth over how to talk about Meghan's race. Didn't include all those b/c the majority didn't seem overtly malicious & the careless ones got smacked down quick by editors. These however, are clearly malicious, note the "I speak truth" in the first pic about Archie screenshot of a wikipedia edit in which a racist comment saya screenshot of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex's wikipedia page e

1/ I have a long thread in the waiting about Biden's VP possibilities (I'm trying to convert it from a private blog essay) but I just read some goofball say that Harris won't get it - in his estimation - because she was a bad campaigner.

This is nonsensical.
2/ Even if it were true (who was a good campaigner? Biden? C'mon now. I think ppl compare every Dem to Bill Clinton & Obama and that isn't fair) when have VPs been picked on their campaign skills?

I gave the answer already, b/c Obama picked Biden as VP in '08
3/ But look at the Dem VPs from 1988 til now

88 = Bentsen? nope
92 = Gore? Hahahahahahaha
00 = Lieberman? Joementum-outa-here
04 = Edwards. Yes. He was better than Kerry
08 = Biden? No way
16 = Kaine? Srsly?

So 1/6 since '88 for Dems

This white woman, Julia Austin, has been doing digital blackface for YEARS and is a top contributing writer for Black women’s blog, @MadameNoire . This is disgusting yet very unsurprising. She’s literally taking up space and money meant for Black women content contributors.

Misogynoir.

Whew.

Two days ago I talked about #whitesupremacy. Yesterday I talked about #patriarchy.

Combine those two toxins and you get misogynoir, the vile poison suffered by women of color, and more specifically, black women.
Yesterday I joked and told a friend the amount of rum it would take for me to discuss #misogynoir would put me in a coma. I wish that was funny. I don’t want to write about this sober. I’m not qualified to discuss this with nuance and deftness.

Also, I am out of rum.
Coined by a queer black feminist Moya Bailey, misogynoir lies at the heart of all of what we think of as intersectional.

If you could imagine a Venn diagram that displays the overlap of racism, sexism, transphobia, & homophobia, the cruel bullseye at its center is misogynoir.
